Job Description
The W. P. Carey School of Business (WPC) invites highly qualified individuals to apply for the position of Executive Director of the W. P. Carey Career Services Center. The Executive Director provides thought leadership and strategic direction for career programs and services for our 19,800 undergraduate, graduate students and alumni. A top-ranked career services program, the center provides career coaching from exploration through employment, teaches embedded career education courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, develops recruiting and engagement strategies with employer partners across all industries, and produces high quality analytics to demonstrate the impact of services to our stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Dean, the Executive Director is responsible for the strategic vision and day-to-day operations of the Center, including oversight of the three teams: student-facing, employer-facing, and operations. The candidate will manage a team of over 25 exemplary Directors, Associate Directors, Career Coaches, Employer Relations personnel, and Operations staff. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders including WPC admissions, marketing teams, undergraduate and graduate program directors, faculty and administrators to contribute to the overall education and development of our undergraduate and graduate student experience. This position also works closely with external communities that include 650+ employer partners engaging with WPC student talent through structured recruiting activities and 300 unique companies with representatives on our advisory boards. This position is critical in personifying our Business is Personal motto.

Essential Duties
- Develops and executes the strategic direction for W. P. Carey Career Services Center.
- Develops long- and short-range goals and objectives to align department with overall goals of University.
- Thinks strategically, develops and executes operational plans, and manages multiple projects and priorities independently and through managers.
- Develops, maintains and implements department and university policies and procedures.
- Manages the budget for W. P. Carey Career Services Center.
- Anticipates, identifies, and clearly defines problems; evaluates and weighs alternatives; works effectively with others in the organization to solve problems and implement long-term solutions to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the department.
- Evaluates technology solutions to improve the delivery of services.
- Confers with university officials, program directors, budget administrators, external advisory boards and/or staff to make determinations for strategic planning, budget development, and management analysis and accountability reports.
- Delivers value to all communities throughout the year, including executing regular communication to drive engagement with Career Services.
- Increases the size and engagement of the employer base for the college, with local, national, and international focus areas.
- Directly or indirectly supervises Directors, Associate Directors and professional staff. Career Services has approximately 25 staff that support all-WPC program, across campuses.
- Oversees and participates in the hiring, training and evaluation of department staff.
- Represents the college/department and serves on various department and university committees.
- Acts as liaison with faculty, advisors, administrators and staff from both the university and external agencies.
- Serves as representative of the University at state, regional and national organizations, boards, councils, and committees as assigned.
- Collects, analyzes, and prepares data and complex reports for rankings agencies, employers, accreditors, and other stakeholders.
- Demonstrates clear understanding of ‘business is personal’ service with all stakeholders.
- Anticipates and responds to the needs of our community. Continually seeks to improve quality of our services through ongoing solicitation of feedback and evaluation from all stakeholders at the W. P. Carey School.
- Proactively and clearly communicates ideas, information, issues, and questions using appropriate tone and language.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment
- Subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulating a computer mouse (75%); required to stand for varying lengths of time and travel moderate distances to perform work (10%)
- Frequent bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds (15%)
- Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts
- Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions
- Ability to manage a team
- Regular use of standard office equipment including, but not limited to: computer workstation/laptop (keyboard, monitor, mouse), printer, fax, calculator, copier, telephone and associated computer/technology peripherals; receive regular review of assignments for adherence to established goals and objectives.
- May require some travel to employer locations and events, as well as nighttime and weekend career and networking events for students, employers, and alumni.
