Position Summary As an integral member of the University Advancement team, the Executive Director of Leadership Giving (EDLG) plays a key leadership role in the fundraising operations of the University and the UW-La Crosse Foundation. Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of University Advancement/Foundation President, the EDLG will provide leadership and direction utilizing industry best practices in the planning and implementation of all programs and activities designed to enhance philanthropic engagement and donor support. In addition, the EDLG will lead collaborative efforts with Advancement colleagues, the Foundation Board and volunteers, and complete a series of administrative activities to ensure the fundraising enterprise functions efficiently and effectively.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Five years or more of demonstrated major gift fundraising, preferably in higher education
  • Demonstrated experience in comprehensive campaign fundraising, preferably in higher education
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
  • Strong sense of personal and professional ethics
  • Strong organizational management and attention to details
  • Proven team player with interest and ability to work across functions and teams
  • Commitment to the vision, mission and values of UWL
  • Proven fundraising results and success in achieving/exceeding benchmarks
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree
  • Seven years or more of demonstrated major gift fundraising, preferably in higher education
  • Proficient in Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge database
  • Strong leadership skills

  • Flexibility to work some evening and weekend hours.
  • The ability to have and maintain a valid driver’s license meeting the criteria for driving a vehicle on University/State business is required. Driver Authorization required upon hire.
  • Significant travel time required (up to 40%).

Description of College / Department / Program / Division / Unit The mission of the UWL University Advancement Division is to strengthen relationships with University stakeholders and manage engagement and fundraising activities to secure resources and support for the University’s mission and vision. Advancement is an integrated function of communications, alumni relations and fundraising which coordinates images, messages and constituency engagement activities to disseminate critical information, create powerful experiences, and offer essential services to key constituencies.
