Executive Director, Nature Finance, Oxford Sustainable Finance Group (OxSFG)

The Oxford Sustainable Finance Group (OxSFG) are looking to appoint a new Executive Director to lead Nature Finance, as a senior member of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, the post holder will work with the Director to establish a new programme of novel and world leading research and teaching in the field of nature finance and investment. 

In 2023 a new Oxford Sustainable Finance Lab is opening in the very heart of Oxford. The Lab will be a physical space where Oxford researchers will co-locate with practitioners visiting from financial institutions, supervisory authorities, central banks, government departments, and civil society organisations. Visitors will collaborate with Oxford researchers as part of sprints, joint projects, and sandboxes, or simply use time in proximity to world-leading researchers to spark ideas off each other and learn from one another.

As a senior member of the Oxford Sustainable Finance Group, the post holder will work with the Director to establish a new programme of novel and world leading research and teaching in the field of nature finance and investment. The post holder will act as the Executive Director of Nature Finance at the OxSFG, responsible for managing grant funded research projects, including the operational management of a research programme, and setting the strategic direction of this area of research. The post holder will also contribute to teaching and supervision on these topics. The post holder acts as the team leader, setting clear task objectives, developing productive working relationship with and line-managing the other members of the team. The post holder contributes to their development through induction, appraisal, and coaching.

It is essential that the post holder has a relevant PhD/DPhil with significant post-qualification research experience. They will have a specialist knowledge in the discipline to develop novel research projects and methodologies, particularly in the emerging domain of nature finance. They will have demonstrated the ability to secure significant research funding through a track record of successful grant applications and evidence of effective teamwork in interdisciplinary research contexts and multiparty collaborations
