Department:
Social Work Office of the Dean
Serves as high-level executive assistant to the Dean in the College of Social Work with a significant degree of autonomy managing day-to-day fluctuations to meet competing deadlines and demands. Provides a broad range of administrative support services to the Dean such as supporting the development of strategic initiatives and proposed plans of action for the continued success of the College of Social Work at The Ohio State University. Directs a complex calendar and makes independent decisions to determine strategic use of Dean’s time. Coordinates travel arrangements and meetings/materials for the Dean and for visiting scholars/speakers including itinerary and logistical details. Writes correspondence, creates agenda, distributes advance copies of materials, attends meetings, and keeps records for College Advisory Committee, faculty Promotion and Tenure process, faculty search committee, faculty meetings, administrative cabinet, and other administrative meetings as required. Handles sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality. Serves as Dean’s liaison with internal and external constituents. Implements special projects as directed by the Dean.
This position is expected to use substantial judgment and independent decision-making, professionalism, attention to detail, and confidentiality. Successful candidates for this opportunity will: anticipate needs and possess the mental acumen and ability to put the big picture together by knowing what questions to ask and when to ask them, demonstrate agility in developing connections internally & externally, and develops resources to implement efficiencies. Evening, weekend work, and travel may be required on occasion.

Extensive knowledge of office administration, clerical procedures, and recordkeeping systems.

Ongoing training as required by university or college.

Regular in-person attendance is expected unless optional arrangements are agreed upon with the Dean.
Required Education and Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or related field.
-
At least five years of work- related experience supporting executive level leadership
-
Ability to handle confidential information appropriately and with discretion

Effective in managing multiple priorities

Possess strong organizational skills
-
Proficient in Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint) or similar software with the ability to learn new or updated programs and software.
Desired Experience:

10+ years of experience supporting executive level leadership

Experience working in a public, non-profit or higher education setting

Knowledge of Ohio State University policies, rules, and regulations
