Job Responsibilities

Executive Leadership Support

  • Plan, execute and evaluate special projects and assignments as delegated by the dean such as accreditation processes and completion of reports to national stakeholders, state agencies and ranking organizations.
  • This involves managing multiple tasks at one time and adherence to deadlines.
  • These projects and assignments require teamwork and engagement with other staff within the School (and University) in order to collect information and provide and formulate accurate and timely documentation.
  • Maintains databases of the historical information of the school including accreditation, approvals, events, distinguished lecturers, and award winners.
  • Ensures record retention policies and procedures are followed and serves as the Records Coordinator for the Office of the Dean.

Policy and Procedure Support

  • Engages in policy and standard operating procedure development by researching and analyzing best practices and peer institution documents to facilitate continuous improvement of college processes such as policies and standard operating procedures as requested by the Dean.
  • Monitors compliance of System and HSC policies and procedures.

Management Activities

  • Provides executive level administrative support to the Dean, including but not limited to advanced planning of School of Nursing calendar and events, reviewing and prioritizing incoming communication to the Dean, managing the Dean’s calendar,  composing correspondence, developing presentations, and planning travel and itineraries.  
  • Represents the Office of the Dean in various meetings.

Communication and Coordination activities

  • Serves as high level liaison and point of contact for the dean to both internal and external stakeholders such as health care system leaders, accreditation visitors, students, families, friends of the school, university leaders and prospective faculty and staff.
  • Communicates important information from the dean to internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the dean.
  • Exercises discretion and independent judgement with respect to confidential school matters.
  • Assists in the resolution of complex, highly sensitive and confidential administrative matters.
  • Works closely with the HSC Administrative offices, TAMU Administrative offices and other colleges within TAMU to expedite requests for information.
  • Coordinates logistical and administrative support for high profile school events, meetings and other special functions for the Dean.
  • Makes arrangements for and hosts dignitaries and other distinguished visitors, welcomes them on the behalf of the dean.  Arranges high profile school social functions and receptions hosted by the dean.
