Position Overview Work under the general direction of the Campus Events Manager by assisting in the audio and visual technical needs for Admin Ops. This position will primarily oversee the planning, coordinating, and setting-up of audio and video systems for UI, community events, and Vandal Athletic events. Other focuses for this position will be on understanding and maintaining technical equipment inventories; leading large work crews; working with customers to meet their expectations; and familiarizing with the technical infrastructure of the ASUI-Kibbie Activity Center and other ESS run venues.
Unit Overview Administrative Operations’ mission is to provide stewardship of multi-use facilities, administration of conferences, events and activities, business services and solutions while implementing a culture of safety benefiting the education of students, recruitment of faculty, staff and students and continued enrollment efforts.

Position Responsibilities

Key Accountability Provide planning and organization of event technical staffing, equipment and facility requirements (including blueprint reading) by:
Job Duties
  • Leading crews in technical setups to include sound equipment, lighting equipment, video equipment, up and down rigging, staging and flooring, and communication equipment.
  • Operating audio systems, video systems, mechanical rigging equipment, and vehicles.
  • Providing operation of audio console and associated equipment such as switchers, web encoders, projectors, video recorders, dimmers, lighting instruments, amplifiers, equalizers, and delay units.
  • Coordinating special effects and production requirements for events.
  • Operating, training and maintaining video replay systems for athletic events.
  • Organizing, scheduling and managing equipment inventory.
Key Accountability Performing maintenance of event related equipment by:
Job Duties
  • Providing recommendations regarding equipment upkeep and replacement.
  • Maintaining current inventories and stock control of spare parts, components and materials.
  • Establishing and maintaining a preventative maintenance schedule for audio, lighting and video equipment.
  • Providing basic emergency repairs on audio, video, lighting and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintaining and repairing staging and flooring.
  • Driving a University vehicle.
Key Accountability Coordinate events by:
Job Duties
  • Meeting with event production staff to determine production needs and to establish schedules.
  • Planning and producing events.
  • Working simultaneously on several major projects.
  • Meeting specific production deadlines, operating an event tracking database.
  • Completing forms and preparing narrative and statistical reports.

  • Assisting the Events Operations Coordinator with maintaining and repairing rental equipment inventory.

Position Qualifications

Required Experience
  • Two years of experience operating and maintaining a multi-channel audio system, and/or HD video distribution system;
  • Experience operating, maintaining, and installation of video equipment;
  • One year of experience scheduling, leading work of crews.
Required Education
Required Licensures, Certifications or other
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to meet the University of Idaho’s driving requirements;
  • Work extended hours with variable schedules including evening, nights, weekends and holidays to meet production deadlines.
Additional Preferred Experience:

  • Two or more years’ experience coordinating, operating and supervising stage/production systems relating to events; interpersonal skills and experience in supervising staff;
  • Effective written and oral communications;
  • Knowledge or experience in computer programing and operation;
  • Ability to learn NCAA rules and regulations as they pertain to this position;
  • Reading and interpreting blueprints.
Physical Requirements
  • Stand and squat on catwalks and beams 70+ feet above floor level
  • Lift and/or otherwise move 50 lbs.
  • Work on ladders
  • Perform rigging
Working Conditions
  • Work in enclosed spaces and dusty environments
