EVENT MANAGER

The Professional Learning and Community Education (PLACE) Event Manager will direct daily operations of events, including monitoring the budget and/or supervising event planning staff to ensure that operations run efficiently, economically, and in line with department goals and policy.
We are seeking a candidate who can independently manage events from start to finish, including guiding partners through the conception and design phase, scheduling and running planning meetings, sourcing and contracting with venues and hotels, working with catering and A/V companies, arranging group travel, and managing budgets. The Event Manager will also act as the primary point of contact for attendees leading up to events and be responsible for setup and onsite support during events. Occasional night and weekend work is required.
The ideal candidate possesses outstanding organizational and multitasking skills, a creative approach to problem solving, and exceptional written and oral communication skills; thrives working in a deadline-driven environment both independently and as part of a team; and brings grace and flexibility to changes and challenges.
2+ years of experience in in-person and virtual event planning and management is required. Interest or background in the arts, health, and/or preK-12 education is a plus but not required. Experience working with UW systems is preferred.

Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree

2+ years of experience in in-person and virtual event planning and management is required
Ability to independently manage events from start to finish, including guiding partners through the conception and design phase, scheduling and running planning meetings, sourcing and contracting with venues and hotels, working with catering and A/V companies, arranging group travel, and managing budgets
Outstanding organizational and multitasking skills

It is anticipated this position requires work be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location.
