Job Description:

Summary

The Center for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at Iowa State University is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Event Coordinator III.

This position will provide support for faculty professional development initiatives offered by CELT. Responsibilities include logistical coordination, scheduling, and planning of faculty professional development programs and events. The Event Coordinator III is part of the Instructor Development team and is included in the programming sessions and provides input for many of these CELT initiatives.

Collaborate with faculty and staff across campus to provide faculty professional development opportunities and initiatives to enhance the learning experiences of all students. CELT professional development sessions include the Award Winning Faculty series, Best Practices in Online Course Design (QM) , CELT Teaching Symposia for Faculty and Graduate Students , Team-Based Learning , Teaching Partners , Miller Faculty Fellows , Scholarship of Teaching and Learning , and Inclusive Classroom programs, among other CELT sponsored programs and workshops. Duties include working with the Instructor Development Team to generate ideas, topics, intended audiences, and implementation strategies for workshops and seminars offered by CELT. Working with communication specialists to advertise professional development opportunities to wide audiences. Creation of participant registration databases and working with assessment specialists to facilitate assessments of programming. Negotiation and preparation of reservation, catering, audio/visual equipment, and other on-site needs for programming. Work with the Instructor Development Team to evaluate program effectiveness and future needs.

The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills along with the ability to work independently, efficiently, and accurately, and maintain confidentiality. Outstanding organizational skills and strong attention to detail, along with the ability to problem-solve, prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines, will be necessary for success.
