Job Summary: This position reports to the Director of Infrastructure Services & Security and is responsible for: (1) Managing and monitoring enterprise systems and infrastructure operated by ITS, and the services provided via those systems, including configurations, testing, and maintenance (2) Implement and maintain backups, security, and redundancy strategies (3) Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issues (4) participates in the Security Incident Response Team, responding to security alerts, addressing vulnerabilities and assisting with investigations and mitigation of ongoing incidents as warranted by the situation.

Responsibilities may include:
– Administers Citrix virtual apps & desktops and all technical aspects of the ArgoApps service
– Administers network license servers
– Administers servers for endpoint infrastructure (SCCM, Alertus, and Spirion)
– Administers servers for various hosted services (building automation control systems and other specialized services utilized by ITS partners)
– Implements PCI controls, conducts audits and reviews, troubleshooting, etc.
– Assists with data center management
– Assists with Active Directory administration and GPO creation/configuration
– Assists with server patching and vulnerability scanning
– Assists with administering virtualization and storage infrastructure
– Assists with administering servers that provide common networking services

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelors degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
Position Qualifications: Hands-on experience with Windows Server Operating Systems and Active Directory. Knowledge about virtualization and system infrastructure. Some networking knowledge (OSI network layers, TCP/IP). Must have excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications Two or more years experience with Windows Server Operating Systems, VMware vSphere, Active Directory, GPO and PowerShell scripting. Experience with administration of PCI, SCCM, and/or Citrix desired.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:

  • 60% – Responsible for administration and monitoring of applications, systems, and infrastructure. These responsibilities include but are not limited to: requirements gathering, systems analysis, backup, design, implementation, programming, testing, maintenance, security, end user support, and deployment. Also responsible for establishing policies and procedures pertaining to the management of applications, systems, and infrastructure and staying abreast of emerging technologies and new design approaches. Applications, systems, and infrastructure include but are not limited to: Citrix virtual apps & desktops, active directory, network license servers, enterprise endpoint infrastructure, virtualization, patch management, third-party integrations and hosted services, and servers owned by other areas. Must typically work independently but cooperate with other systems engineers, developers, and support personnel, plus provide technical support and training as needed to the ITS Support Center. Implement and maintain the systems so they are compliant with university and departmental policies. – (Essential)
  • 15% – Works closely with the ITS Operations workgroup to administer the enterprise infrastructure of endpoint services including but not limited to: SCCM, Spirion, Papercut and Alertus. Additionally assists with GPOs and similar endpoint configuration tools and techniques. Troubleshoots issues with desktop engineers when necessary. – (Essential)
  • 15% – Will participate as a member of the Security Incident Response Team (SIRT) staying current with the skills and techniques required to perform IT security functions. – (Essential)
  • 10% – Participates in ITS internal standard processes and procedures regarding change management and alerting. Ensures proper documentation is created and maintained for procedures and standards in relation to the data systems and other servers within areas of responsibilities in accordance with ITS internal standards. – (Essential)
