Description of primary duties and responsibilities: Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:
The Facilities Management (FM) department’s Planning & Construction section is under the direction of the Director of Planning & Construction. The section oversees planning, design, renovation, and new construction of the university’s physical resources. The section manages the Campus Master Plan and Capital Improvement Program by overseeing designer selection, schematic design, design development, and construction-document creation; managing and delivering new construction and facility renovation projects that meet or exceed university standards, client expectations, and building code and regulatory requirements.
Description of Work Continued: Primary Purpose of the Position:
The Engineering/Architectural Technician reports to the Director of Planning and Construction. The position will be assigned as a construction project manager to facilitate successful project delivery on campus renovation and new construction projects. The position performs technical duties to define project scope, budget and schedules; and to support architects, engineers and other design and construction professionals in areas such as construction, materials testing, design, surveys, and program/regulatory compliance.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: Associate’s degree in the assigned discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience. Some positions may require certification. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Knowledge skills and abilities:
Preferred Qualifications: A minimum of 4 years of post-graduate experience in a construction or facilities management-related position.
