The Ohio State University’s Office of Advancement seeks an Engagement Officer for the College of Arts and Sciences (ASC).
The ASC Engagement team is a valuable piece of the larger ASC Alumni and Development team, charged with building and deepening the engagement of alumni, donors, and friends of the college. The team’s efforts are focused on engaging with constituents, bringing to light their passion and ideas to strengthen their relationship with both the college and the university, thereby increasing engagement, philanthropy and awareness.
The Engagement Officer will develop and coordinate engagement and cultivation strategies in new spaces such as virtual and digital engagement providing exciting opportunities for ASC alumni, donors and friends to broaden and deepen their relationship with the college and university. The Engagement Officer will create best practices, events and programs that will excite alumni and donors to be a part of the College of Arts and Sciences family and build connections that advance their relationship with Ohio State. Partnering with ASC and Advancement colleagues, they will create innovative programming that highlights the uniqueness of ASC and builds affinity between program/event attendees and the college.
The Engagement Officer will also have responsibility for one or more of the following areas (as assigned by supervisor): Serving as the liaison to the ASC Center for Career and Professional Success by maintaining a close relationship with career team to promote opportunities for donor and alumni engagement with students through career and mentoring opportunities; or Serving as project manager for event logistics and workflow for ASC engagement team to include assigning event logistic responsibilities among larger ASC team in times of high-workflow. Working with the Departments and Centers at ASC to create virtual and in-person value added programming centering around ASC’s educational and research offerings.
The Officer must have excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship building skills with the ability to balance a wide variety of tasks and shifting priorities within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will be able to recognize opportunities to share compelling content with a variety of audiences, be comfortable with technology and have competencies in video conferencing and presentation platforms, as well as Excel and customer relationship databases.

Responsibilities
30% – Engagement and Events
Engagement: develops and coordinates innovative engagement and cultivation strategies, opportunities and trends for ASC alumni, donors, constituents, and friends; Researches and identifies new alumni audiences and helps develop new and creative alumni programming that showcases ASC; ensures engagement data is captured in TAS.
Events: Manages a diverse portfolio of high-level events; establishes strategic event goals and outcomes in collaboration with development partners and designs experiences/programs to match goals; manages all logistics and timelines; develops follow-up plans and reports to ensure ROI; ensures event data is captured in TAS.
30% College Outreach
Initiates and maintains relationships with faculty and staff members; works with the senior engagement officer and others on the ASC Advancement team as a resource for alumni and volunteer engagement; develops and shares best practices and resources with colleagues within their assigned responsibilities. Partners with colleagues to identify and train volunteers to support the college’s strategic plan and initiatives; advises on the use of volunteers and establishment of advisory committees; ensures volunteer data is captured in TAS. Helps create strategies to move volunteers along the advancement continuum
30% Project Manager
Serves as project manager for event logistics and workflow for ASC engagement team; assigns event logistic responsibilities among larger ASC team in times of high workflow; small-event expert; resource for ASC team when producing events outside of the engagement team. Develops and maintains resources and toolkits for engagement to enable the ASC team and faculty/staff who work with alumni to produce high-quality events/volunteer engagement without direct involvement of the engagement team.
10% – Miscellaneous
Completes special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent amount of education and experience; 2 years of experience in an administrative capacity
Experience with event planning with multiple stakeholders

Experience in higher education alumni/constituent relations
Experience with program planning and administration
Experience working with and managing high level volunteers/donors.
Familiarity with Content and Constituent Management Systems as well as other web-based communication and tracking tools
Experience with digital communication and event tools, such as but not limited to: Zoom, MS Teams, Webex, etc. Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud is a plus

Additional Information:
Target Salary Range: $49,800 – 66,400.
Ohio State is focused on enhancing the health and safety of our community.
