Reporting to the Associate Director, Alumni Advancement, the Engagement Officer is charged with managing the events, programming, and volunteers for their portfolio which includes determining budget allocation, method of resourcing, relationship management, retention, and recruitment of key volunteers. This role will support ongoing engagement and networking opportunities for alumni while also advancing the mission of alumni advancement through regular communications to build alumni engagement and encourage advocacy, and philanthropic support of the University.
Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Facilitating volunteer recruitment and management for reunions, events, and various initiatives.
- Cultivating ongoing alumni engagement opportunities while furthering alumni advancement through consistent communication to foster alumni involvement, advocacy, and philanthropic support for the institution.
- Managing relationships and providing support for our signature alumni events including Alumni Weekend, Homecoming, the Alumni Awards of Excellence, and Frosty Mug.
- Coordinating sponsorship activities, from initial outreach to conducting meetings with potential sponsors and securing sponsorship for our signature alumni events.
- Developing acknowledgment materials, including letters, sponsorship reports, and internal reporting mechanisms, to ensure the University recognizes its volunteers, sponsors, and partners.
Requirements of the position include:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- 2-3 years of experience in engagement and volunteer management
- Demonstrated proficiency in alumni relations
- Prior leadership and management experience with volunteers
- Background in event planning and coordination, including evaluation
- Experience in program development and strategic planning
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Strong judgment, tact, and diplomacy
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Previous experience with CRM and/or database management
This role offers part-time hours, totaling 20 hours per week, with a flexible schedule. The successful candidate will primarily work on-campus with hybrid work opportunities. Additionally, occasional weekend and evening hours may be required to facilitate events and reunions.
Classification P03*
Normal Hiring Range $35.70 – $42.84 per hour
Professional/Managerial Salary Bands
- Tentative evaluation; subject to committee review.
