Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) – persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice.  These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience.

The William G. Lowrie Department of CHEMICAL & BIOMOLECULAR ENGINEERING at The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio invites applications for a faculty position at the FULL PROFESSOR rank as an ENDOWED CHAIR to join a collegial group of 31 faculty. Although a prospective candidate has been identified for this opportunity, we welcome candidates to apply if they would like to be considered for this and future opportunities.

Position Overview:

The position is open with respect to research area but with a special interest in applicants from energy-related fields including advanced materials, separations, reaction engineering, and catalytic or non-catalytic processes that are associated with but not limited to photo-, electro-, and/or thermo-chemical systems, as well as sustainability, green chemistry, process control, modelling, machine learning, data analytics, and artificial intelligence.  There are opportunities to collaborate with faculty colleagues in engineering, in science departments, or in our outstanding medical school and Comprehensive Cancer Center. Joint and courtesy appointments are common on our campus. 

Required Qualifications :

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or equivalent discipline
  • National and/or international reputation in specialized research area as exemplified by national and international awards, and/or leadership positions in professional societies.  

Desired Qualification s:

  • Experience and recognized record in promoting diversity and inclusion in all areas of scholarship, instruction, and outreach.

The William G. Lowrie Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering  is home to 31 faculty with research emphases in bioengineering, reaction engineering and catalysis, separations, systems engineering, multiphase flows, colloids, molecular thermodynamics, polymers, nanomaterials, sustainability and the environment. We are housed in a state-of-the-art 225,000 ft2 building dedicated to Chemical Engineering and the Chemical Sciences. Diversity and inclusion are core values in CBE. College Overview: 

The College of Engineering  offers 14 undergraduate and 13 graduate programs in 12 departments or centers, as well as three undergraduate and four graduate degrees in the Knowlton School of Architecture, to approximately 10,000 students. The college has recently expanded its degree offerings with a B.S. in Engineering Technology available on the regional campuses of the university.
