Job Summary:

Join University Housing’s team of Human Resources and Payroll professionals!
The Employment Relations Specialist provides consultation, guidance, and support to managers and employees within University Housing encompassing the following service areas: leaves of absence/FMLA, work restrictions, ADA accommodations, worker’s compensation, disciplinary matters, sensitive employee issues, records requests, policy interpretation and other related processes.
This position is partial remote and joins an employee relations team of 3, within an HR/Payroll department of 18. This is a high volume and customer service focused role serving a diverse group of departments.
We are a dynamic, 24/7 division that employs a diverse employee population of approximately 500 full time staff and 1,700 student staff. Come join our team!

Responsibilities: Identifies, analyzes, and evaluates workforce relations issues and various courses of action to consistently and effectively resolve issues within a work unit to contribute to the efficient operation of the unit.
  • 40% Advises employees, supervisors, managers, and human resources staff regarding sensitive employee issues and documents activities according to established polices and procedures
  • 20% Serves as subject matter expert for employee relations policies and processes within a designated focus area or work unit
  • 10% Assists in the development and delivery of programs and policies aligned with unit objectives and institutional employee relations strategies
  • 5% Schedules logistics and secures resources for managers regarding the resolution of workforce relations issues
  • 5% Participates in grievance issues, employee disciplinary transactions and terminations, and exit interviews
  • 20% Serves as main point of contact for staff and managers regarding temporary work restriction, ADA accomodations, FMLA/LOA’s and workers compensation.
Tasks:
  • Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency.
  • Serve as the note-taker in discipline meetings or other employee relations meetings.
  • Serve as Housing Divisional Disability Representative and assist in processing and responding to reasonable accomodation requests.

Education:

Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Qualifications:

A minimum of 1 year of employment relations experience is required.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP or the ability to obtain in 1-2 years preferred.

Work Type:

Full Time: 100%
This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.

Salary:

Minimum $67,500 ANNUAL (12 months)
Depending on Qualifications
This is a full-time appointment. The starting annual salary is $67,500 or higher based on qualifications and includes a competitive retirement and benefits package.

Additional Information:

This is a hybrid position which works primarily: 60% remote and 40% on-site.
Primary work schedule for this position is 8:00am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Extra hours as needed. Flexibility is available for alternate schedules that meet operational needs. Final schedule will be determined at time of offer.
