Job Summary:

Join Central Human Resources as an Employee Relations Consultant for the Anschutz Medical Campus. This is role is open rank for entry, intermediate, senior, or principal professional. We are looking for a highly motivated, solutions-focused professional who will partner with campus stakeholders and consult on the performance management process, which includes communication and training.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Consulting with campus departments on constructive methods, processes, applicable federal, state and Regent laws/regulations (including FLMA and FLSA) and providing options for resolving conflicts and improving work relationships and the work environment.

 

  • Developing and implementing practices in employee relations to guide and advise departments across the university to include performance management issues and classified staff employee grievance procedures.

 

  • Guiding and advising managers and HR partners in assigned units on employee relations matters, including resolving performance issues, managing leaves and addressing classified staff employee grievances.
  • Consulting with assigned departments on the annual performance evaluation processes.

 

  • Conducting investigations into allegations of violations of the university’s Anti-Violence, Anti-Bullying and Conflict of Interest Policies.

 

  • Contributing to the development of, and conduct, training course such as performance management, team building, and Crucial Conversations/Accountability.

 

  • Administer University and legislative programs as necessary.

 

The Employee Relations and Performance team is a dedicated group of seven HR professionals who consult and provide expertise on a variety of employee relations topics across the entire Anschutz campus. This position is eligible for fully remote work for the foreseeable future. In the future, a hybrid work schedule, which consists of 2 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings, may be required.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Entry

A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.*

Intermediate

  • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.*
  • 1 or more years of professional level experience in one or more of the following: developing and implementing employee relations guidance, conducting investigations, and performance management

Senior

  • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.*
  • 2 or more years of professional level experience in one or more of the following: developing and implementing employee relations guidance, conducting investigations, and performance management

Principal Professional

  • A bachelor’s degree in public administration, public policy, business, higher education administration, social sciences, behavioral sciences or a directly related field from an accredited institution.*
  • 3 or more years of professional level experience in one or more of the following: developing and implementing employee relations guidance, conducting investigations, and performance management

*Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher education human resources experience
  • Experience with State Personnel Rules
  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Public * Administration, or related field
  • Certification in from a professional HR Association (PHR, SPHR, IPMA)
  • Experience working with FMLA and FLSA regulations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to analyze, interpret, and evaluate a broad range of laws, rules, and regulations in order to exercise good judgment in applying them to human resource challenges.
  • Knowledge of the professional standards, concepts, and practices of employee relations, organizational development and human resource policy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally, including public speaking.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer services skills.
  • Aptitude with presenting information and trainings.
  • Knowledge of State personnel rules.
  • Knowledge of university rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate high accountability to self, the department and the university through ethical behavior.
  • Thorough knowledge of current management and leadership methods and best practices.
  • Familiarity with applicable Federal, state and university laws, regulations and policies.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

    Anticipated Salary Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as

    Entry: $43,590 -$50,000

    Intermediate: $47,437-$56,500

    Senior:  $51,283-$64,000

    Principal: $58,975 – $70,000

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
