Embedded Researcher/Senior Research Fellow (Fixed-term 24 months)
LeedsMetroUni
Embedded Researcher for Health Inequalities.
Ever felt like you want to be doing research that is applied and can directly impact on the health of individuals and communities? Wondered how you could combine your passion for research with the operational knowledge of those working in health and care services? Want to feel as though you are translating theory into practice? Well, we’ve got some good news for you! The School of Health at Leeds Beckett University, working in partnership with Leeds Academic Health Partnership, are recruiting an Embedded Researcher to support a city-wide commitment to tackling health inequalities.
The Leeds Academic Health Partnership is one of the largest of its kind in the UK, bringing together academia, health, care, industry and third sectors.
• The partnership act as a gateway to the city’s health and care system, working with it to forge unique collaborations across our partnership when that will achieve the best health outcomes for the people of Leeds.
• They help raise the profile of the city’s health and care research and innovation and support its ambition to be the ‘best city’ for health and wellbeing by 2030.
• At the heart of this ambition is a mission to tackle inequality, boost inclusive economic growth and improve the quality of life for everyone who calls Leeds home.
The Embedded Researcher will work across organisations and will be supported by academic expertise in the School of Health at Leeds Beckett University.
Embedded Researchers are a rare breed though. They’re passionate about research, having devoted their early research career to perfecting their technical skills in research methodology and funding applications. But they also love working with a diverse group of people. They’re brilliant at communicating, and often act as the (diplomatic) critical friend to the services they work with. Most importantly of all, they care about improving things. They want to bring the rigour of research to the messy world of service delivery and make a difference, to the patients, to the staff and to the system.
If you’re reading this and thinking “this sounds interesting” then it’s almost certainly worth you pick up the phone and giving us a call to learn more! This is a fantastic opportunity to be based within the Health Promotion team at Leeds Beckett University as an academic home, working under the co-direction of the Leeds Academic Health Partnership to inspire, lead and drive change in how we tackle health inequalities across Leeds. This opportunity for true partnership working, lasting impact, and to make a meaningful contribution to change makes this an opportunity not to be missed for the right candidate.
