Summary of Job Duties:

The EMBA Career coach(s) provides career coaching for EMBA students and alumni. The career coach works directly with the students to support their efforts to develop and implement a strategic career plan. The coaches provide various career development services, focused on a process that begins with long-term career aspirations. This process begins with coaching interviews and a technical assessment (Career Leader) to aid the student’s development of a strategic plan, including a destination, and steps to get there. After supporting the student’s plan development, the coach will assist the students with resume development, interview preparation skill-building, and networking to enable the plan to provide intended results. The primary skill building focus is “interpersonal” skills, which are identified as the #1 skill that MBA employers are seeking, according to GMAC research. Coaches will create and develop relationships in the network, to ensure a pool of competent, relevant mentors are available for the varied needs of the students. In addition to the strategic planning process, the coach provides various other coaching services including salary negotiations, feedback enabling, crucial conversation skill-building, and such, as requested by the student. The career coach collaborates with the MBA office for activities like orientation, awareness, marketing, and student satisfaction survey activity. Student meetings provided both FTF (coffee meetings) and virtually from the coach’s home office, as dictated by need.
