Calling Europe’s innovation leaders! Join the EIT Governing Board!
Do you want to accelerate Europe’s transition to a greener, healthier, and more sustainable future? You can make that happen as one of four new EIT Governing Board members.
This Call for Expression of Interest is now open to leaders with a strong track record of bridging the worlds of business, education and research. Apply by 28 October 2024 and help boost Europe’s ability to innovate.
The EIT Governing Board consists of 15 European innovation leaders with four year terms (which might be extended once by a two-year period) and an observer from the European Commission. The Board provides the EIT’s strategic leadership and is independent in its decision-making. More specifically, the Board is responsible for the selection, designation, funding, and evaluation of the EIT’s Knowledge and Innovation Communities as well as for monitoring and fostering their performance.
The EIT is looking for candidates who bring
- At least five years of professional relevant experience in business, education, innovation and research;
- An evidenced strong track record, achievements and widespread reputation in at least one of the following lines of work: innovator, academic, scientist, entrepreneur, business leader or investor;
- An evidenced strong track record of knowledge triangle integration (i.e. cooperation among business, education and research) to foster innovation in Europe and globally;
- An evidenced strong track record of building governance frameworks in large organisations or in impact investment or leading effective communication campaigns; and
- An excellent knowledge of English.

More than 350 000 learners and students across Europe have participated in EIT Community entrepreneurial courses and trainings.
About the EIT Governing Board Advisory Group
The EIT Governing Board’s Advisory Group to select new Board members consists of: Pia Sandvik (chair), Janis Grevins (member), and Inga Skisaker (member). The Advisory Group identifies a list of potential candidates and will guarantee the independence, transparency, legitimacy, and credibility of the process.
