Reporting to the Associate Director for Administration, and working closely with the Associate and Assistant Directors of Education and Training, the Education and Training Program Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of Cancer Research Training and Education Coordination (CRTEC) Core and oversee the HICCC’s education and training programs across the continuum. Subject to business needs, we may support flexible and hybrid work arrangements. Options will be discussed during the interview process.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Serving as liaison to faculty members across Columbia University for cancer training/education programs
Organizing cancer education events across Columbia University
Serving as a liaison for cancer education outreach to the medical community
Partnering with the Cancer Center Communications office to manage all communications for the CRTEC and ensure CRTEC website pages and promotional materials are current including posting videos of educational events
Working with HICCC leadership to develop and promote educational and professional development programs for trainees and junior faculty in the cancer center. This includes programs to support the education, and training of underrepresented individuals in biomedical research.
Assisting with the preparation of grants to support the education program
Tracking of current and past HICCC trainees for progress and outcomes.
In conjunction with the CRTEC leadership, overseeing the activities of the education program. This includes management of current programs, and the development, and implementation of new education and training programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s or doctoral degree in education or cancer-related field
Experience in research administration or a combination of diversity, training, education, and experience
Teaching and mentoring experience
Other Requirements
Ability to work under pressure with multiple and competing deadlines
Ability to work independently
Computer skills, proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Proficiency in survey platforms (e.g. Qualtrics) and in survey design and analysis
Must be highly organized, with excellent communication and follow-up skills
Ability to work as part of a team, with administrative, research, and financial staff
Must meet milestones as delineated by the HICCC Associate Director for Administration and other HICCC leadership
