Reporting to directly to the Clinical Manager, the Education Coordinator leads the development and execution of all Public Health Information System education programs and online activities. This role works closely with partners across BC, Yukon and First Nations to coordinate, promote and develop education materials, programs and sessions to meet the needs of the Public Health Information Systems support teams and end users. This position works both independently and as a team member to balance priorities and workflow, exercising leadership, initiative, flexibility, judgment and problem-solving skills to complete work.

What you’ll do

• Drafts and develops multimedia materials, marketing materials and other educational materials.
• Maintains and oversees the development, implementation and distribution of a variety of written/visual material such as program publications and resource materials for various applications
• Acts as the lead resource on development of written education material, including standards, reference guides, communiques and newsletters. For the newsletter, this includes planning each issue, authoring articles and collaborating with submitting authors. Works with external partners to ensure appropriate content and distribution of materials.
• Coordinates education and promotion of education programs to relevant stakeholders by giving presentations; assisting with organizing education events providing training and guidance for staff and other stakeholders.
• Works in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to maintain application training environments and ensure training materials are current and available for stakeholders to use.
• Leads educational activities by building and maintaining relationships; acting as a resource for all relevant stakeholders and learners; represents PHSA in partnership alliances, relying on evidence-based program development strategies.
• Identifies opportunities to meet educational needs of end users and application support teams by conducting ongoing environmental scans, being aware of emerging issues and areas of greatest need, pinpointing key leaders and potential opportunities for collaboration with external stakeholders.
• Coordinates the evaluation of new methods, tools and software to facilitate the development and maintenance of the provincial standard education materials.
• Ensures quality improvement strategies are used across all PCST education opportunities, including: surveys, data from program and staff evaluations, and other methods, and uses this information to further build on educational work of the program. Collaborates with other team members, stakeholders, administrators and learners to assess these needs and develop plans

What you bring

Qualifications

• A level of education, training, and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree in adult education, communications, health sciences, public administration, or a related discipline and five (5) years of experience, preferably in a health care setting.
• Excellent relationship and networking skills utilized to maintain and build partnerships.
• Knowledge of issues related to adult learning, education material development and coordination.
• Excellent presentation, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to analyze and solve problems, and the initiative and independence to anticipate problems and proactively correct or prevent them.
• Demonstrated ability to use computer related tools including word processing, spreadsheet, database, and internet and presentation software at an advanced level.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing including the ability to work with discretion when handling information of a confidential or sensitive nature.

• Commitment to upholding the shared responsibility of creating lasting and meaningful reconciliation in Canada as per TRC (2015) and BC’s Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act (2019).
• As a strong asset for consideration, we are looking for our successful candidate to have: Knowledge of social, economic, political and historical realities impacting indigenous communities and familiarity with Indigenous Cultural Safety and anti-racism and accompanying reports (BC DRIPA, TRC, etc.)

Job Type: Casual full-time hours (37.5 hours per week)

Wage: $30.00 – $39.00/hour – as a casual employee, total earnings include an additional 13% in lieu of benefits and paid vacation. The rate for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education and experience, and would be in alignment with the provincial compensation reference plan
