Operating out of seven community sites across the city of Calgary and surrounding areas of Cochrane, Airdrie, and Chestermere, the Pediatric Community Rehabilitation Program provides services to children and youth that align with provincial health priorities. This new position will lead the planning, co-ordination, implementation, and evaluation of education activities for PCR staff to support, clinical and organizational standards/practices/guidelines in collaboration with the leadership team. Using adult learning principles, the Education Consultant II develops, and delivers educational activities for orientation, mandatory education, and changes in policies, procedures, and protocols as well as other practice support documents to promote competence for PCR staff. The Education consultant determines appropriate education based on identified needs which includes legislation, quality improvement, strategic plans, and objectives as well as organizational needs. The education consultant functions as a change agent and resource to PCR staff for professional development in the program area. The Education Consultant II collaborates with the leadership team around quality improvement strategies and facilitates appropriate educational activities and process changes. The education consultant collaborates with the health care team at the program, department, site, zone, and provincial level as necessary. As the successful candidate, you will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: Patient Family Centered Care, Parent Coaching Approach, Motivational Interviewing, Collaborative goal setting, MS office Suite.

Description:

As an Education Consultant II, you will be working closely with interdisciplinary professionals with a variety of backgrounds, where you will provide assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of staff development, professional development, patient education and consumer health education programs. By collaborating with key stakeholders, you will identify, prioritize and evaluate professional and clinical needs of staff, assisting staff with effective problem-solving and improving patient care outcomes. This includes the development and delivery of seminars, workshops and other clinical education opportunities within your assigned program.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a health or education related field. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Master’s level of education in Speech Language Pathology, Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy. Minimum 5 years’ demonstrated experience and excellence in delivering patient centered health services. Skilled in providing consultation to other professionals. Skill working with multi-disciplinary and cross-sectoral services or teams. Teaching/facilitation skills in small and large group settings utilizing knowledge of adult learning principles both in person and on-line/virtually. Coaching and mentoring skills. Involvement in developing/delivering and implementing educational programs or initiatives. Change management knowledge and experience required. Demonstrated leadership skills. Strong interpersonal verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of practice related education resources to support staff. Skilled in retrieval and appraisal of evidence from a variety of credible sources to provide current accurate information. Previous assessment skills to recognize and respond appropriately to staff learning requirements. Demonstrated effective collaboration within a team environment. Understanding and application of information and communication technologies. Demonstrate behaviours consistent with the Values of AHS: Compassion, Accountability, Respect, Excellence, and Safety. Experience working in a pediatric rehabilitation setting. Experience providing rehabilitation services virtually.

Preferred Qualifications:

Familiar with Health Change Methodology framework Familiar with Rehabilitation Model of Care Formal education in adult education principles Knowledge of and demonstrated skill in providing and evaluating health education to professionals; expertise in designing and implementing education. Experience supervising students. Experience in program development and evaluation.
