At the University of Nottingham, our childcare services have a reputation for excellence. We offer a range of childcare provisions for children from 4 months to 12 years at our Day Nursery and Playcentre, delivered by competent, skilled practitioners.

To join our team you must be an outstanding child centred early years professional, already holding a relevant degree in the field, or a minimum level 3 qualification recognised as full and relevant by the DfE https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/early-years-qualifications-achieved-in-england

With a strong commitment to high quality provision, you will need to be creative and able to provide a stimulating, awe-inspiring environment for children that engages their interest, their curiosity and exploration and discovery skills. Working as part of a dedicated team you will be required to establish strong relationships with children and their families providing a safe and secure emotional environment within which children can thrive.  You will be a named key person to a group of children, ensuring that their individual needs are identified and met within our setting.  You will help to ensure that the environment is hygienic, safe, stimulating, exciting and encourages children to actively explore, experiment and investigate the world in which they live.  You will carry out and analyse observations, produce individual development plans and provide activities that are tailored to individual needs as well as provide for children’s individual care needs and promote their self-help skills

At the University, we are committed to the ongoing support and professional development of our staff. In addition to this, we can offer competitive salaries with an employee benefits package, including a pension scheme and a generous holiday allowance of up to 38 days per year, staff discounts, a rolling programme of training, support with wellbeing and staff recognition.

The salary scales are currently under review in line with the cost of living, however we are unable to detail what this would be at this time. There are 2 permanent full time opportunities available (hours are 39 hours per week working Monday to Friday). Job share arrangements may be considered.

It is a condition of this post that a satisfactory enhanced disclosure is obtained and that all employment checks are met prior to appointment.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to childcareservices@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.

We warmly welcome those of different cultures, ethnicities and beliefs – indeed this very diversity is vital to our success, it is fundamental to our values and enriches life on campus. We welcome applications from UK, Europe and from across the globe. For more information on the support we offer our international colleagues, see our Moving to Nottingham pages.

For successful international applicants, we provide financial support for your visa and the immigration health surcharge, plus an interest-free loan to help cover the cost of immigration-related expenses for any dependants accompanying you to the UK. For more information please see the our webpage on Financial support for visas and the immigration health surcharge .

This role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visas & Immigration points based immigration system, however applications are welcome from candidates who don’t currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a valid visa via another route.
