The Child and Family Grant Programs is seeking qualified applicants for the part-time position of Early Interventionist. This regular part-time (50%) position is grant-funded and continuation of employment is dependent upon grant funding.
What is the role of an Early Interventionist?
An Early Interventionist (E.I.) carries out home-based early intervention services following the Family Guided Routines Based Intervention (FGRBI) model of service delivery. As a caregiver coach, the E.I. listens to concerns and priorities of the family, shares information and resources, and offers suggestions to families on meaningful ways to provide activities for their child to learn and develop through everyday routines.
Services are provided to children eligible for early intervention services through Tennessee’s Early Intervention System (TEIS). The Infant Stimulation Program serves families in Benton, Carroll, Henry, Lake, Obion, and Weakley Counties.
Skills and Competencies:
• Ability to establish good rapport with caregivers, children, staff members, and other community agency and service providers.
• Sensitive to family cultural and socioeconomic characteristics.
• Working knowledge of child development.
Responsibilities:
• Carry out one-hour sessions with an average of 12 families weekly in the child’s natural environment.
• Maintain session notes and contact logs and enter information in a state-wide data system in a timely manner.
• Administer developmental testing for purpose of programming.
• Attend staff meetings, training, and conferences to maintain current program information and knowledge in the field of early intervention and child development.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in early childhood special education, early childhood education, child and family studies (concentration child development), early intervention, or related field in deaf education or visual disabilities, special education, K-12, elementary education, communication disorders and speech language pathology, and/or related field. Related field includes a degree in social work, nursing, psychology, education administration, or sociology. Related field degree requires a minimum of three years documented experience working with children with disabilities 0-5 years of age and their families.
TBI background check/fingerprinting required at time of employment at the cost of the employee.

Minimum annual salary $17.08 per hour (Market Range 07) – Salary commensurate with education and experience
