Posting Summary Rutgers, School of Health Professions (SHP), Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences is inviting applications for two full-time Faculty-Open Rank for the Occupational Therapy Doctoral (OTD) Program (commiserate with qualifications and experience). We are seeking faculty for two positions. A Doctoral Capstone Coordinator who will be responsible for teaching and creating, supervising and maintaining the OTD program’s doctoral capstone experientials and projects and an Academic Field Work Coordinator who will be responsible for developing, maintaining fieldwork sites and preparing, placing and monitoring students at the designated sites. Faculty in both positions serve as a liaison between the sites, students and the program.
The School of Health Professions is one of eight schools that are part of Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), the premier health sciences institution in New Jersey. The SHP Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Sciences is a multidisciplinary department that houses the Rutgers Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech and Language Programs. Rutgers is an internationally ranked and recognized University that is a member of the prestigious AAU and the Big Ten conference. Through these faculty appointments, the school wishes to build on that strong history by increasing its capacity for excellence in clinical practice, teaching and research. 
Consistent with our mission the faculty will provide innovative education for this 8-semester, entry-level OT doctorate program, teaching in areas of practice expertise in relevant content while supporting the development of the occupational therapy program through, service, and scholarship activities.The faculty will be reporting to the Program Director and will have the exciting opportunity to initiate innovative development of coursework, create a scholarship agenda and supervise doctoral experiential capstone experiences. The ideal candidate will also have a demonstrated commitment to ethnoracial and social diversity.
Position Status
COVID-19 Immunization Requirement Under Policy 60.1.35 , Rutgers University requires all prospective employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the individual a medical or religious exemption. Prospective employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment must provide proof they have received a booster within two weeks (14 calendar days) of eligibility . Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of any COVID-19 vaccine authorized or approved for use in the United States by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and recommended by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Eligibility for a booster against COVID-19 varies and is explained on the University’s web site located at https://coronavirus.rutgers.edu/covid-19-vaccine . Failure to provide proof of primary vaccination and booster will result in rescission of a prospective employee’s offer of employment and/or disciplinary action up to and including termination.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Given the developing status of the OTD program, candidates will need the following relevant academic experiences:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Occupational Therapist with a completed doctoral degree (e.g., Ph.D., post-professional OTD, Ed.D, etc.) with a dedication to occupation-based teaching and practice
  • Contemporary knowledge in occupational therapy theory and practice models
  • Experience with online teaching pedagogy
  • Articulated scholarly agenda
  • Candidate must be licensed in New Jersey or meet all eligibility requirements for New Jersey Licensure
  • Current NBCOT certification
  • AOTA & state association membership

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Three to five years of professional practice experience
  • Record of involvement with professional associations
  • Evidence of scholarly contributions to the profession (i.e. presentations and/or publications at local, state or national level)
  • Demonstrates effective communication skills through engagement and reflection
  • Evidence of innovative solutions in practice or community

Equipment Utilized
Physical Demands and Work Environment This job is primarily sedentary with occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling. Have close visual acuity for working on computer terminal, e.g. extensive reading and typing. Job requires possibly frequent interruptions or distractions with a need to adjust priorities quickly as circumstances dictate. Ability to interact appropriately with colleagues for different purposes in different contexts.
