About Henan University

Henan University is a key university under China’s “Double First Class” initiative and a major flagship project in Henan Province. Founded in 1912 as the Henan Preparatory School for Studying in Europe and America, its first president was Mr. Lin Boxiang. The campus was originally located on the historic site of the Henan Gongyuan. The university name was restored in 1984. In October 2008, Henan University became a jointly constructed university supported by both central and provincial governments. In September 2017 and again in February 2022, it was selected as a first-batch “Double First Class” construction university.

For 113 years, Henan University has upheld the motto “To illustrate virtue, to enlighten people, and to pursue perfection” , with a university spirit centered on resilience and self-improvement. The university has produced over 700,000 graduates across various fields since its founding, contributing significantly to education, research, innovation, and the advancement of society.

The university currently encompasses 13 academic disciplines, including humanities, sciences, engineering, medicine, agriculture, and interdisciplinary fields. It offers 24 first-level doctoral programs, 2 types of professional doctoral degrees, 47 first-level master’s programs, 39 types of professional master’s degrees, and 20 postdoctoral research stations. Fifteen disciplines are ranked among the top 1% globally according to ESI, and a total of 82 undergraduate programs have been included in China’s ‘Double Ten-Thousand Plan’ for first-class undergraduate education. The university hosts 5 national key laboratories, 1 national field science observation and research station, 4 humanities and social sciences research platforms under the Ministry of Education, 3 national-local joint engineering research centers, 4 provincial laboratories/research institutes, 5 key laboratories under the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Agriculture, and several national-level education, research, and training bases. Henan University Press publishes 18 academic journals, and the library holds nearly 10.8 million volumes of resources. The university has established partnerships with 217 universities across 45 countries and regions. The university’s campuses include the Zhengzhou Longzi Lake Campus, the Kaifeng Minglun Campus (a national heritage site), and the Jinming Campus, covering a total area of more than 5,500 acres.

Henan University has over 4,800 staff, including more than 3,600 full-time faculty. Among them are academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, 9 academic committee members, 46 national-level leading talents (including Changjiang Scholars, National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, and “Ten Thousand Talents Program”), and 41 national-level young talents. In recent years, the university has entered a new stage of innovation-driven development, positioning itself as a research-oriented, comprehensive, and internationally competitive university. Hundred Talents Program B: At least 3 years of study or work experience at renowned institutions abroad or in China; notable research achievements with good potential; age limits: natural sciences/engineering ≤35, humanities/social sciences ≤37.

Young Faculty: Strong educational background, academic potential, and representative research achievements; engaged in both teaching and research.
