5-year fixed term role
The Director Strategic Projects is responsible, on behalf of the DASE executive, for demonstrating leadership which results in the successful delivery and execution of all DASE initiatives and projects. The portfolio of projects has a significant budgetary profile and requires complex management that meet expectations within an agreed scope, time, cost and quality. The role, while reporting to the Executive Director, Education Transformation, is required to work with all the DASE executive to lead project deliverables. Further, the role is responsible for the newly formed Division’s Project Portfolio & Governance Committee which includes the DASE executive and leads the strategic determination of projects for the entire Division.
The successful applicant will develop and maintain a positive relationship between business stakeholders managing expectations and service levels while maintaining appropriate governance and controls required each project / initiative and ensuring the delivery of outcomes. This will extend to working with each individual project team to enact the DASE Solutions Delivery Framework (SDF) and working collaboratively across the Division to prioritise strategic planning and implementation. The role will have a small team, including of external contractors stemming Change Managers, Program Managers and Business Analysts to support successful delivery.
The Strategic Projects Manager will combine a strong understanding of trends in the higher education sector and the current demands and pressures on the sector.
To be successful you will need:
- High level experience leading operational and/or project delivery teams that consistently deliver differentiated results and exceeds stakeholder expectations.
- High level experience in strategically maturing the operations of project teams; with an understanding of project models, and the implications they have on financial management, vendor management, contracts, and program and project management.
- High level experience in customer centric roles that achieve higher levels of customer service and organisational benefit.
- High level experience to exercise a high degree of independent operation, strategic, problem solving and creative thinking, and a proven capacity to plan, prioritise and implement strategies for a large and complex organisation.
- Detailed knowledge of the higher education and its changing needs, industry trends and project management frameworks/methodologies.
Qualification/s:
- Tertiary qualifications in the field of project management / management or equivalent experience (Essential).
