Job Description

 

The University of Oklahoma Athletics Department is seeking a Director of Video Content to lead the department’s public-facing video content production unit for all Oklahoma programs. Supervising a staff of content creators, this Director-level position is perfect for a highly organized & highly creative video content producer who is passionate about collegiate athletics.
The Director of Video Content will lead the production team in the development of weekly, monthly and annual content coverage plans. Among the prerogatives, the content produced by the team will drive fan affinity, promote the Oklahoma brand and generate engagement through all video media platforms. Working closely with Marketing, Ticketing, Sooner Sports Properties and Communications departments, the candidate will aggregate and assess departmental needs and structure content plans accordingly.
The ideal candidate will showcase a high-aptitude for video content production, including cinematography and post-production video treatment. A high importance will be placed on the candidate’s demo reel in addition to a track record of content and team management.
In addition to content creation and leading the full-time staff of content creators, the candidate will contribute to the support of the Production Assistant (student) program. The Director of Video Content will be expected to lead and mentor students in their field, providing training opportunity and hands-on experience for the students under the guidance of the Producers.
Finally, the candidate will also be asked to contribute to other SoonerVision production efforts as needed, including live game and studio productions in support of Oklahoma’s contract with ESPN+ as needed.
Essential Functions:

  • Performs in-game video production, entertainment on on venue big screens, game telecasts, studio shows, and special programming to include post production
  • Manages all outside video requests
  • Oversees five SoonerVision departments, leads a large staff, and manages the department  budget.
  • Acts as liaison and maintains business relationships with strategic television partners
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

 

Job Requirements

 

Required Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Broadcasting, Marketing, or related field, AND

  • 48 months experience working in television production.

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor’s degree for a total of 96 months related experience.

Skills:

  • Advanced knowledge of the technical aspects of the work·
  • Advanced knowledge of video or audio editing
  • Advanced knowledge of all pertinent production equipment
  • Knowledge in video production including live linear and digital programming as well as big board production
  • Knowledge of general television show production
  •  Ability to supervise staff and communicate effectively directions and expectations

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in repetitive motions.
  • Ability to move and lift various pieces of equipment.. 
  • Communicate effectively.
  • Use of computer, calculator, and telephone.
  • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods.
  • Requires work during non-business hours.

Certifications:

  • Valid Oklahoma Driver¿s License in order to drive University vehicles or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire date

Departmental Preferences:

  • Knowledge and understanding of NCAA and Big 12 rules.
  • Experience with intercollegiate athletics.
