Director of Nursing Assistant Certified Program NA-C

The Director of Nursing Assistant Certified Program is responsible for implementing, instructing, and evaluating educational programs in the field of nursing. Responsibilities for this position include managing the curriculum, facilitators, students, and facilities for the Clover Park Technical College Nursing Assistant Certified Program.

Duty: Manage the Nursing Assistant-Certified Program 

Tasks:  

• Develop and implement curriculum that meets requirements WAC 248-841 and assume compliance with and responsibility of all regulations as stipulated in rules.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current related state and federal requirements.
• Provide a stimulating environment that encourages participation, interpersonal skills development and comprehension of concepts of good patient care. Create and maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning.
• Directly supervise program offerings and instructional staff; observe lecture, lab and clinical teaching for each staff member at least once per quarter.
• Participate in recruitment, selection and hiring of qualified NAC instructors, including clinical instructors and guest lecturers, ensuring that instructional staff teach in their area of expertise.
• Maintain accurate records, schedules, and course requirements regarding hours of instruction and content.
• Organize and submit State documentation for program renewal.
• Develop and implement NAC course syllabus and NAC curriculum that meets the requirements of WAC 246-841-490 and 42CFR483.152 and the graduate to demonstrate mastery of the core competencies nursing assistants must hold.
• Ensure that all student clinical experience is directly supervised.
• Ensure that students receive verification of completion or confirm electronically with the Department of Health when the requirements of the course have been met satisfactorily.
• Be prepared for any on site survey of the training program as required by NCQAC.
• Create and maintain schedules for classroom and clinical instruction.
• Coordinate ordering of lab supplies and instructional tools to ensure adequate supplies are available.
• Provide ongoing recommendations for program improvement to ensure the highest level of quality control and program delivery.
• Perform other related duties.

Duty: NCQAC communication, college support and development 

Tasks: 

• Notify the Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission within 72 hours if there is a change to the program director position as listed on the application.
• Notify the Commission of any clinical practice facilities, program name, ownership, legal status, and credit status impacting the program’s ability to sustain itself financially.
• Maintain professional growth in nursing expertise, instructional skills, and administrative program changes dictated by state and federal requirements through attendance at appropriate seminars, membership in a professional organization, and by following relative professional publications.
• Serve on appropriate college committees.
• Maintain professional working relationships with community health care partners.
• Perform other related duties

Minimum Qualifications:

• A graduate of an accredited school of nursing recognized by the State of Washington.
• Possess a valid and current Washington State RN license in good standing with:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as an RN of which one (1) year is in direct patient care
  • A minimum of one (1) year of experience within the past three (3) years caring for the elderly or chronically ill of any age or both.
  • Must have completed a course on adult instructions as required by WAC 246-841-470(3) or have one year of experience in the past three years teaching adults.
• Computer-literate with competence in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
