Position Summary:      

The Director of Guidance oversees the counseling and programming that relates to our students’ overall wellbeing. Counseling students and helping them progress in school and in life is a priority. The Director also creates a department of helping hands and works with the Administrators, Grade Deans, Faculty members, and parents. 

The social-emotional well-being of our students is more important than ever. To ensure a high-quality school counseling program, we need to attract our students with outreach and proactivity.

Position Responsibilities:

Guidance responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Counseling: Provide short individual counseling on a regular basis for students including social/emotional support, educational/study skills guidance, and co-curricular coordination 

  • Creating and running parent programs to be both proactive and responsive to the needs of our community

  • Admissions: Interviews, decision making 

  • Enhance and implement social-emotional and health and wellness curricula and programs 

  • Serve as a case manager for students with social-emotional needs to to oversee a holistic approach to supporting the student, including interfacing with students’ parents/guardians, caregivers, faculty, learning specialists, outside professionals, and administration as needed 

  • Help students resolve teacher and classroom concerns and assist students in developing advocacy and problem-solving skills 

  • Work with educators to integrate social-emotional/values-based and relational arts curricula into all content areas and be a resource to faculty by creating programs to help them support students

  • Welcome and assist new students and their families as they integrate into the school community 

  • Attend weekly grade level meetings to collect and provide information pertaining to individual students, student groups, and/or grades as deemed necessary and appropriate

Experience & Educational Background:

MSW and 2-3 years of experience required.
