DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT, Media Lab, to drive significant fundraising efforts in support of the Media Lab’s mission and vision.  Will manage a pipeline of prospects (foundations, alumni, individuals, government, etc.) and opportunities; execute the overall development strategy; assess the development needs of the lab and propose staffing models to meet those needs; create and implement individualized solicitation fundraising plans to raise primarily philanthropic and foundation support (typical gifts garnered are in the upper six figure to greater than $1M range); collaborate with the lab’s director, faculty, and staff, the School of Architecture and Planning, and central Resource Development to develop and implement a strategic development plan to raise gifts and/or other revenue to support research, educational programs, and initiatives; collaborate with the director of member and donor relations to strategize outreach and stewardship with potential donors; and work with colleagues to create, develop, and execute donor relations and stewardship strategies and identify prospects and arrange meetings with MIT leaders for cultivation and solicitation.

Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; at least five years’ direct fund-raising experience; track record of successful fundraising; supervisory experience; excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management, time-management, and written and oral communication skills; ability to manage multiple projects; discretion and judgment with confidential information/issues; ability to interact effectively with diverse constituencies; ability to produce compelling written materials for lab leadership; experience presenting to large groups; proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and prospect management or other CRM systems; and an interest in collaborating with students and researchers. PREFERRED: experience in a higher education or other nonprofit organization.  Job #21945-11
