Job Summary

Job Summary	The Director of Grants and Contracts is responsible for the planning and development of University and Research Development Corporation extramurally sponsored programs, and for facilitating faculty and staff participation in such activities. The director encourages and assists in the development of, and provides campus level approval for, all applications for extramural support to ensure that each proposal submitted is consistent with University/Corporation and sponsor guidelines, is an authorized official for accepting grants and executing contracts, and approves program amendments and major subcontracts. The Director is responsible for ensuring that each project awarded is carried out in a manner consistent with University/Corporation and sponsor policies and procedures. The director provides overall direction and supervision of the Office of Sponsored Programs staff to ensure that the mission of the Office is being effectively pursued. The Director of Grants and Contracts will work as an executive officer of the Concord University Research and Development Corporation. This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule with a work week divided between working onsite and working remotely.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duty/Responsibility	*Office of Sponsored Programs Responsibilities:* Oversees the overall development, planning, and monitoring of all externally sponsored contract and grant activities related to sponsored programs of the University and the Corporation. Prepares reports and projections regarding the status of these activities and the progress towards research goals and objectives. Including the following duties: Supervises and directs the Office of Sponsored programs, ensures that they have the training and resources necessary to carry out their functions in and effective and efficient manner, and serves as an expert in the resolution of issues. Works with faculty and staff on proposal development, budgeting, and funding. Approves applications or requests for external support of University and Corporation programs, projects, and activities. Conducts contract and grant negotiations on issues such as terms and conditions, program and budget amendments, audits, and performance reviews. Reviews sponsor terms and conditions and, if acceptable, accepts all awards and executes or approves for execution all contracts on behalf of the University and/or the Corporation as needed. Develops, recommends, and/or implements policies and procedures for the administration of contracts and grants, including the submission of applications, acceptance of awards, monitoring of project activities and expenditures, preparation of financial reports, and compliance with sponsor and University/Corporation terms and conditions. Represents the University targeted sponsored programs to external organizations, and agencies and serves as a liaison with these groups. Works with appropriate University groups, and individuals in evaluating research and development goals, objectives, and programs. Assists in the identification of specific sources of funds that support projects and programs of interest to faculty and staff. Develops and manages the operational budget for the Office of sponsored programs and the allocation of its resources in accordance with goals and objectives including operations, staffing, etc. Responsible for grant re-budgets and prior approval requests (e.g. Key Personnel Requests & No-cost Extensions Responsible for effort reporting and sub-recipient monitoring

Duty/Responsibility	Responsible for representing University/Corporation at appropriate local, state, regional, or national targeted sponsored program activities. Keeping abreast of current trends and policy changes relating to external funding and participates in related national and/or regional conferences and meetings. Participates in a variety of University/Corporation committees.

Education/Knowledge

Minimum Education	Bachelor’s
Required Licenses/Certification	Bachelor’s degree to be in a related field required. Master’s degree preferred. Valid Driver’s license
Required Skills	Excellent oral and written communications skills Highly organized Proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and database software such as Word, Excel and Access
