Director Goverment Affairs is a member of Senior Staff and reports to the President & CEO
Directs and implements RJ Corman’s policies and objectives involving local, state, and federal government affairs
Work with the CEO to achieve organizational goals and objectives by administering the communications and public relations initiatives as determined by the larger organizational strategic planning process
Supports and assists the CEO, Board of Directors, and Trustees in their roles as liaisons to elected officials at the local, state, and federal level
Enhance meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences
Resolve public affairs issues
Partner with Director of Risk Management to coordinate appropriate messaging and public statements on behalf of the company
Raise the profile of RJC in the railroad industry through traditional news media, public events, social media, and other communications outlets, as well as public outreach
Develops corporate narrative and provides strategic communications for senior leadership as needed, e.g., speech content, talking points, presentations, press releases, conference call scripts, Q&As, website, backgrounders etc.
Monitors external coverage of RJC in trade and business news across various platforms
In partnership with People Services, develops effective employee communications plans which strengthen recruitment, employee value proposition, employee engagement, and company culture (mission, vision & values)
Providing analysis of proposed and actual legislative actions and determine the potential impact on the company
Direct and track RJ Corman’s political giving working closely with state and federal lobbyist and participate in fundraising opportunities
