Job Summary Provides overall direction and management to the Department of Fraternity & Sorority Life. The Director will work with students, advisors, headquarters staff, and various members of the community to build a successful program.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advocate for the sorority and fraternity community (F&SL), which includes four councils, College Panhellenic Council (CPH), Interfraternity Council (IFC), Multicultural Greek Council (MGC), and National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
  • Supervise four (4) full time staff and student leaders, in the areas of Fraternity and Sorority Life and council leadership
  • Coordinate professional and leadership development for staff and students
  • Develop and implement the Office of FSL strategic plan in collaboration with senior administrators, alumni, student leaders, national organizations, and advisors
  • Serve as primary liaison to the F&SL Alumni community and (Inter)National sorority and fraternity headquarters
  • Provide stewardship over an annual budget in excess of $450,000
  • Maintain fiscal oversight of program budgets and utilize appropriate procurement and contracting practices to include regular review of council budgets
  • Develop and implement appropriate programming and educational efforts including, hazing, alcohol and drugs, sexual violence, event planning and other risk management issues to assist in ensuring compliance with applicable University policies and local, state, and federal laws and requirements. 
  • Manage communication flow to students and community stakeholders
  • Serve on university-wide event teams including, yet not limited to, Commencement, Homecoming, and semester openings
  • Performs other duties assigned
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in related area required plus five years progressively responsible management experience OR equivalent combination of work experience and education.
  • Demonstrated experience in advising student organizations, budget planning and management.
  • Demonstrated experience with event management, contract negotiations and event production.
  • Experience working with a diverse population; excellent writing and public speaking skills.
  • Computer literacy with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to utilize independent thinking, judgment, and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in higher education or related field
  • Experience with or an understanding of a large sorority and fraternity community
  • Demonstrated experience serving diverse student populations
  • Demonstrated group facilitation and curriculum/learning design experience
  • Five or more years’ experience of professional staff supervision.
  • Experience planning, implementing and evaluating student programs.
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and desktop publishing. 
Working Conditions
  • Attend 2-3 training retreats per year requiring overnight and weekends stays
  • Attend professional conferences and workshops
Special Conditions for Eligibility Licenses: Class “C” Operator’s Driver’s License.
Applicant selected must provide a current three-year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, must obtain a Texas Driver’s License within 30 days after entering Texas as a new resident.
