The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) will provide strategic leadership in developing and implementing programs and initiatives that advance diversity, equity, and inclusion within the Price College of Business (Price). Reporting directly to the Dean, the Director of DEI is a leader, advisor, advocate, and catalyst for change.

The Director of DEI will be deeply embedded in the Price community, collaborating with students, staff, faculty, alums, and corporate partners to help create a more diverse and inclusive environment for every member of the College. This role will help create and work closely, as an ex officio member, with DEI Advisory Board, will Chair the College’s DEI Committee, and will serve as the College’s designate to liaise and interact with OU’s Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. The Director will serve as the primary resource within Price to instill and permeate DEI into all programs, activities, policies, and processes. Such efforts will include promoting diversity-related initiatives; improving the cultural competence of students, faculty, and staff; and developing a business-oriented D&I curriculum that will complement and enhance University efforts. The Director will oversee the Office of DEI and will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to grow the College’s Multicultural Business Program. They will also chair a coordinating committee on D&I student programming that includes staff and student leaders.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Spearheads strategic plan for fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community at Price.
    • Identifies and manages existing and emerging opportunities and risks related to DEI that stem from current programming, practices, and activities across the College.
    • Leverages quantitative and qualitative analysis and reporting, including data-driven insights, market research, trend analysis, benchmarking, and opportunity identification, to translate metrics, research, and trends into strategy.
    • Communicate Price’s diversity and inclusion strategy with students, alums, potential students, employers, and other groups, upon request.
    • Builds relationships with and gains trust from other senior leaders and their team members as well as faculty to develop a deep understanding of Price’s workforce diversity, culture, inclusiveness, and retention opportunities.
    • Collaborate with Price faculty to identify and implement best practices for incorporating diverse perspectives and inclusive teaching in the classroom (via cases, speakers, etc.).
    • Chair Price DEI Committee.
    • Help create and work closely with Price DEI Advisory Board as an ex officio member
       
  • Executes DEI strategy by collaborating and partnering with program administration personnel across all degreed programs, divisions, and centers at Price. This may include but is not limited to the following:
    • Directs the Price Office of D&I: manages office staff, budget, and other resources.
    • Manage the Price Multicultural Business Program.
    • Serves as a strategic thought leader that builds, maintains, and shares resources (tools, interventions, training opportunities, etc.) to increase the capacity of staff to engage across differences within the community.
    • Collaborates with appropriate program personnel to create effective DEI programming for students of all Price programs.
    • Collaborates with Marketing & Communications and central OU Recruiting & Admissions teams to develop and execute a strategic marketing communication plan targeting diverse, prospective students.
    • Works with Price and OU Alumni Relations to engage diverse alums in connecting with current and prospective students to share success stories.
    • Works with Price Advancement to cultivate and steward donors to ensure the availability of sufficient financial resources to execute the DEI strategy.
  • Serves as an advocate for students in the Price Community across all programs.
    • Serves as an essential resource for diverse students, including but not limited to various affinity clubs and organizations.
    • Collaborates with Price Student Organizations to promote diversity and inclusiveness across student-run Price events and activities.
    • Creates programs for all students to enhance their cross-cultural skills and competence.
  • Works with OU Human Resources to champion more inclusive practices. This may include but is not limited to the following:
    • Reviews and refines current staff hiring practices.
    • Partners with staff sourcing organizations that align with OU’s DEI commitment statement and Price’s DEI strategy.
    • Ensures onboarding and retention practices align with the DEI strategy and goals.
  • Develops quantifiable short-and long-term DEI goals, tracks progress towards them and communicates progress to an engaged community. This may include but is not limited to the following:
    • Audits current policies and procedures to identify areas of development.
    • Produces an annual DEI report for internal and external constituents that tracks goal completion and activities of the prior year.
    • Transparently communicates progress to all stakeholders and constituents within the Price and larger OU Community.
    • Collaborates with the Price Advancement Team to communicate with donors to ensure they understand the impact of their gifts on DEI initiatives.

 

Job Requirements

 

Required Education:  Master’s degree in related field, AND: 

  • 60 Months in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion or related experience that includes planning and executing DEI programs and initiatives 

Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 72 months of related experience in lieu of the Master’s degree for a total of 132 months of related experience.

Skills:

  • A demonstarated track record of effectively working with diverse populations across multiple stakeholders and functions, bringing diversity and inclusion to the workplace or an organization
  • Program implementation, strategice planning, and managing across multiple vital priorities, and leveraging resouces to accomplish strategic objectives
  • Success in relationship building
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and cultural competencies to interact with diverse individuals, including staff at all levels, faculty, and administrators
  • Exceptional professional communication and advanced presentation skills
  • Evidence of fiscal responsibility and budget management

Advertised Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to engage in repetitve motions. Standard office environment.

Department Preferences:

  • Doctorate in higher education or related field. 
  • Three to five years of progressive responsibility in higher education or related field, including duties in multicultural, intercultural, or diversity programs.
  • Prior history and experience in an academic environment working with diverse stakeholders such as students, faculty, staff, and the university community
  • Proven ability to lead others effectively.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the needs of underrepresented students.
  • Development and delivery of D&I content in instruction, training, or coaching settings.  
  • Analytical skills and ability to translate metrics into valuable insights and informed decisions.
