Department Summary The current Office of Faculty Affairs provides centralized services encompassing the administration of the promotion and tenure process, the storage and maintenance of faculty data in Interfolio, the administration of the annual review process and the administration of faculty appointments. It also serves as the liaison for all the schools and colleges for faculty grievances and appeals and provides administrative support for the Faculty Senate.
Position Overview The Director of the Office of Faculty Affairs reports to the Chief of Staff, Provost Office. The Director has oversight responsibility for the Office of Faculty Affairs and manages matters related to faculty appointments, promotion, tenure and evaluation processes. The Director manages policies and procedures related to faculty matters and other tasks as assigned by the Provost.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications Should have strong oral and written communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with faculty and senior academic leadership; an understanding and appreciation of technology; capability of automating and streamlining processes; ability to develop and teach training seminars and workshops; ability to review, write, and interpret faculty affairs policies and procedures; capable of working with various campus offices and constituencies who collaborate with Faculty Affairs; and ability to supervise and manage staff.

Job Duties

o The Director oversees the utilization of the Interfolio software system to manage the faculty activities such as end of year performance reviews, establishing and documenting objectives and key results along with quarterly check-ins as well as the documentation of the tenure and promotion processes. The Director also coordinates the direction of staff engaged in the operation and maintenance of faculty documentation (Document Manager) and support for the Faculty Information System (Interfolio).
o Monitors the faculty promotion, tenure and periodic peer review processes through coordination with the Department Chairs and Deans to ensure the secure transmittal of packet documents for review along with recommendation letters and internal/external evaluations. Oversees the workflows and timelines for candidate reviews at the department, school/college and university levels.
This role also participates in the appointment and promotion of non-paid adjunct faculty. The Director oversees the utilization of the Adjunct Data Base to ensure proper documentation including the review process of the adjuncts in a timely manner.
o Coordinates with the Academic Departments and Human Resources Office to facilitate the faculty hiring, non-clinical credentialing and on-boarding process. This includes review of offer letters and pre-hire planning documents.
Oversees the administrative management of faculty committees, i.e. the Faculty Senate and Faculty Grievance and Appeals Committee. This role also oversees the coordination of academic room scheduling for all faculty.
Works closely with the Provost Office on the creation and updates to faculty policies and procedures.
Initiates and prepares faculty actions/board items for UNT System Board Regents review.
