Description
To provide customer-focused leadership and operational direction for assigned areas of responsibility. To coordinate with customers and partners to complete objectives and ensure effective business operations. To lead and engage staff to meet operational goals. To coordinate the use of equipment and materials to ensure coordination and completion of tasks and projects. To ensure strategic planning, analysis, oversight, legal and contract documentation, formal agreements and project administration are performed in accordance with university standards.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS TO INCLUDE:
- Organizes and directs the staff according to department and University policies and procedures. Develops departmental goals, objectives and budgets. Supports temp-to-perm program to ensure adequate staffing levels. May ensure 24/7 support in some areas. Operates within prescribed guidelines and escalates operational situations as needed. May coordinate with Hospital Maintenance to provide coverage after hours and responds to unique and urgent situations after hours.
- Directs staff and use of resources to ensure the completion of daily tasks and projects. Facilitates communication, planning and implementation of projects and initiatives. Identifies opportunities to secure savings and enhance revenue. Establishes standard operating procedures for areas of responsibility and coordinates with other areas to ensure efficient business processes.
- Communicates regularly with directors, administrators and others to facilitate the timely accomplishment of projects. Ensures communication and use of safety protocols. May lead Facilities Management Safety Program, Facilities Management Incident Review Committee and/or other types of programs/committees as needed. Investigates and addresses safety concerns in assigned areas.
- Develops and maintains strong customer relationships. Maintains ongoing communication with customer groups to ensure needs are identified, prioritized, and fulfilled. Identifies and communicates changes that may impact delivery, cost or scope of services. Ensures assignment of resources to meet needs. Solicits feedback and assesses the performance of services provided.
- Assists with training and utilization of staff to support department and division priorities. Ensures that strategic planning, analysis, oversight, legal and contract documentation, formal agreements and project administration are in accordance with university standards.
- Represents the department as needed. Coordinates with customers and partners to complete objectives and ensure efficient business operations across areas of responsibility. Serves as a member of the Facilities Leadership team.
- Ensures effective staffing to meet operational needs and engaging outside services to meet nonrecurring or emergency needs. Empowers and equips staff to meet operational objectives. Responsible for human resource management within assigned areas to include temp-to-perm process management, interview, selection, promotion, evaluation, coaching and corrective action. Coordinates with Facilities HR to address employee relations issues.
- Assists with the development and implementation of strategic, operational and budget plans. Ensures legal and contract documentation is performed and may develop formal agreements with University departments and outside constituencies. Monitors departmental budgets to ensure proper utilization of University funds. Ensures effective management of material and equipment inventories. Plans and budgets for equipment replacement. Manages labor and overtime costs within budget and anticipates future staffing levels, labor costs, materials and equipment replacement costs.

Annual Salary Range for Offer: $94,375.00 – $133,000.00 (Commensurate with experience & qualifications)
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field and seven (7) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
MVR:
Driving record should meet University underwriting guidelines to drive vehicle in performance of University business. Current underwriting guidelines include possession a valid driver’s license, issued in the United States; at least 21 years of age; at least three years of driving experience; maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
PERSONAL:
Possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices, to safely perform the duties and responsibilities of this position to include:
- Lifting and carrying a minimum of fifty (50) pounds
- Climbing stairs
- Performing tasks requiring bending, stooping, kneeling and extensive walking significant distances between and within buildings on campus.
- Working in confined spaces.
