What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Senior Director, Enterprise Records Management, this role is accountable for supporting the development and implementation of the Enterprise Records Management program. This includes the development and implementation of principles, policies, standards, and procedures related to Records governance across the Bank to ensure consistency in practice across CIBC; Compliance with legal and regulatory requirements are met; Integration and compliance with CIBC’s enterprise level frameworks including the Control Framework; Risk mitigation strategies related to data usage and privacy are documented are applied.

How You’ll Succeed :

You will support the operationalization of Policy to ensure governance, processes and tooling enables team members across all LOBs to follow the Policy, related standards, and procedures. You will achieve this through the following:

  • Consulting: As Director in the Enterprise Data and Records Management Office (EDRMO), you will be the lead contact and subject matter expert for consultation on data/records lifecycle management across the enterprise. As such you will lead project/steering meetings, provide guidance on new initiatives, and manage deficiencies as required.

  • Provide Strategic Advice : You will lead the team in providing guidance on the documentation and design of an effective oversight control structure in accordance with current governance, risk, and compliance requirements, including Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) and Operational Process Control (OPC) streams as per CIBC methodology.

  • Building Strong Partnerships : You will develop and maintain a network of business SMEs who will collaborate with you on ensuring records compliance across our bank. You will be required to liaise and work with record roles across the enterprise. As a governance group, EDRMO works very closely with Regions and LOB partners to help guide them on interpreting and implementing records practices, help ensure compliance with quarterly testing, support preservation hold requirements, and conduct training as required.

  • Strategic Thinking: You will, in collaboration with the Senior Director, guide the strategic direction for Records for the enterprise. You will help build and contribute to EDRMO’s long-term strategic goals. This entails working with technology and data partners to help them understand expectations for records and data systems that address business needs and emerging trends.

  • Leadership: Create a positive work environment by being an effective role model and championing CIBC’s mission, vision, and values. Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines, and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.

  • Cross-functional relationship : Key relationships with a wide range of internal CIBC employees, teams, and departments, including executives across TI&I, Information Security and Corporate Security, Architecture, Finance, Internal Audit, GORM and other areas of Risk, Compliance and Legal. A wide range of internal and external professional contacts including but not limited to consultants and subject matter experts in the industry.

It is an asset if you have a strong understanding of the CIBC Control Framework.

  • You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others do not. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making.

  • You have a degree/diploma in

    CA, CMA, MBA, CIA, CISA, advanced Data or Information Management and/or in a related field. 8-10 years experience governing data or information in financial services or a similar regulated industry is preferred.It’s an asset if you have industry designations and/or can demonstrate experience in and have strong working knowledge of risk assessment, control concepts, and methodologies that can be used in a regulatory compliance management context.
  • You have experience leading an enterprise wide data or information governance program . You have deployed program components across the governance, talent, processes, and tooling to deliver on program objectives.
