| Position Summary | The Development Director for WCMU Public Media is responsible for and oversees the day to day operations and management for all membership and underwriting (TV/radio advertising). Supervision and management of three underwriting representatives, the fundraising coordinator, a major gift officer, office professional and a student employee. Fundraising activities include: direct mail, telemarketing, car donations, matching gifts, acknowledgements and on-air fundraising, Maintains an audit trail for all contributions to WCMU. Oversees the financial processing and stewardship processes based on a calendar schedule. Serves as liaison to the University finance and advancement offices. Assists with reconciliation of fund accounts. |
| Required Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business, Marketing or Sales. Three years of fundraising experience. Ability to travel and work nights and weekends as necessary. (limited) Demonstrated ability to develop and implement direct mail, telemarketing, e-solicitations, matching gifts and on-air fundraising campaigns using data analysis that exemplify industry best practices. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Demonstrated success in leading efforts to increase membership including sustaining members. (monthly donors). Demonstrated ability to inspire trust and confidence in colleagues and prospects. Demonstrated ability to project a positive image through excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Self-motivated, goal and detail oriented. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Five years of relevant experience with public broadcasting fundraising software and data analysis tools. Five years of experience working in a University environment. MBA or other relevant graduate degree. Experience working in a unionized workplace. |
| Duties & Responsibilities | Directs membership activities for all areas including radio, TV, and online. Supervises membership team to assure that financial targets are satisfied including management and supervision of three (3) sales representatives. Responsible for identifying and implementing changes in system to increase donor satisfaction, contributions, and retention. Principal manager of donor database (currently Allegiance). Responsible for data integrity and PCI compliance. Directs all direct mail communications/solicitations. Directs all telemarketing solicitations. Directs matching gifts. Prepares monthly revenue reports. Prepares quarterly pledge receivable reports. Directs donor services personnel in: Processes all pledges, contributions and underwriting contracts. Processes direct mail renewals, acknowledgments, billing. Orders and fulfills all premium requests. Provides customer service. Manages reconciliation of WCMU accounts monthly to University and Advancement accounts. |
