Job Description
Under administrative direction of the New College of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences, plans, organizes and directs the operation, and day-to-day supervision of, on-campus experiential learning opportunities and events including, but not limited to, summer and weekend camps (residential and day), workshops, activities and events that highlight ASU’s academic programs and community-embeddedness, in accordance with established priorities, strategies and goals. Identifies, creates and executes particular events and activities that will lead to revenue-generation for the college.

Essential Duties
- Meets with staff and faculty involved in creating camp content to plan scope and format of revenue-generating camps
- Plans and executes fall and spring convocation ceremonies for New College
- Establishes and monitors budgets
- Reviews administrative procedures and progress for events including, but not limited to revenue-generating residential and day summer and weekend camps that highlight ASU’s academic programs and community-embeddedness
- Manages administrative details including, but not limited to: financial operations, camp/event registration, dissemination of promotional materials, and responses to inquiries to ensure flawless execution within budgetary constraints
- Serves as primary liaison to university-wide experiential learning events/camp committees
- Coordinates services for camps, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing and event security
- Monitors event activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise
- Confers with staff at event site to coordinate details; obtains permits from fire and health departments to erect displays and exhibits and serve food at events as needed
- Reviews trade publications, attends seminars, and consults with other professionals to keep abreast of camp management standards and trends
- Works in conjunction with faculty and staff to develop and produce brochures and other collateral materials/publications designed to increase community awareness of camps and experiential learning opportunities
- Works closely with ASU service providers to ensure thorough and timely communication of camp requirements/needs so that all university policies and practices are met in design and delivery of events
- Produces and disseminates status report to campus entities as required
- Collaborates with Student Engagement and Student Services to develop and lead camp planning
- Builds relationships with middle and high schools that inform plans for creation of additional revenue-generating camps
- Identifies emerging areas for camps or educational events where there is need and in which New College can establish a unique and innovative presence.
- Meets with staff and faculty involved in creating Continuing and Professional Ed (CPE) content to plan scope and format of revenue-generating courses or programs
- Works with Learning Enterprise to maintain relationship for hosting such courses; may also explore other platforms, as needed, to boost revenue share
- Identifies mechanisms for leveraging and promoting CPE courses through badging or similar strategies
- Identifies emerging areas within CPE where New College can capture a market or otherwise stand out as unique and innovative in this space
- Responsible for Destination: ASU West event series – to include all logistics and coordination of those events
- Meets with staff and faculty involved in creating Events within New College to understand scope of event
- Assists with planning and implementation of events as possible
- Creates/updates event planning process to streamline process for event planners in the college, create consistent messaging for events, and improve advertisement of events.
- Connects event leads with one another, as possible, to maximize resources and outreach, and reduce workload and costs.
- Identifies emerging areas for Events where New College can better serve the community or otherwise stand out as unique and innovative in this space
- Contributes to grant writing and donor building efforts to support the mission of this position as well as the New College goals
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment AND eight (8) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Twelve (12) years of related administrative experience, which includes five (5) years of supervisory experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Working Environment
Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work. Frequent activities include bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds. Regular activities require ability to quickly change priorities. May be required to perform tasks in the field within and/or across University campuses. The ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions is required.
