Director, Communications

About the Role 

As the Director, Communications you will be responsible for the development, implementation, and management of strategic communications plans to build, promote and protect Swinburne’s reputation as one of Australia’s leading universities.

Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, and highly accountable to the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellor (External Engagement) and Chief of Staff, the Director of Communications will be responsible for the creation, thought leadership and management of innovative, engaging and purposeful integrated communications for the university’s staff, students and external audiences.  This role will also be responsible for leading and delivering impactful external engagement events across the university.

About You  
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Demonstrated excellence in developing, executing and   reporting on creative, results-driven communications strategies that support organisational goals and   objectives
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in building trusted and effective relationships with media and external influencers
  • Demonstrated excellence in leading the production and distribution of innovative, engaging, and purposeful integrated communications content
  • Proven experience working with senior executives on the development and execution of integrated communications plans, spanning external communications, internal communications, social media, and events
  • Demonstrated experience with issues and crisis management and ability to deal with multiple high-pressure priorities simultaneously

Qualifications

Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications and substantial relevant experience in corporate communications, PR, media or a related field.
