King’s Careers & Employability (KC&E) are part of the wider Students & Education Directorate, a collection of wide-ranging professional services in place to support King’s students and their education. As a directorate we manage the student lifecycle from application to graduation and beyond, to ensure a coherent and seamless student experience and effective administrative processes, working closely with King’s faculties to do so. 

About the Role

Working within Student Careers Engagement (SCE), a function of King’s Careers & Employability (KC&E), the primary purpose of this the Digital Learning Officer role is to ensure KC&E provides comprehensive, high quality, and up-to-date information & resources to students and graduates through our digital platforms, including the website and virtual learning environments (VLEs). The role holder will be expected to source careers-related content in order to create, curate and refine a diverse range of digital careers information.

The role holder will be expected to work closely with colleagues across the KC&E to support in creating content for KC&E activities. The role holder will also be expected to work closely with colleagues to ensure activities are done in line with priority needs and the student voice in mind.

  • Maintain, review and update our existing information resources in digital and print format for appropriateness and up-to-date labour market information.
  • Creating and producing creative and innovative information resources and content.
  • Promoting and delivering training on new digital platforms and resources.
  • Writing, creating, and managing content, such website content.
  • Reviewing and acting upon data and research, and on the feedback of our students, to identify gaps, needs and priority areas. Working closely with other members of the wider KC&E department to ensure engagement-related data and research informs KC&E digital information activities.
  • Project planning, coordinating and managing to support departmental projects; ensuring plans and approaches are flexed accordingly to increase engagement and participation from underrepresented students.
  • Working closely with the marketing & communications team to ensure the design and layout of all digital content is consistent to KC&E and King’s brand; and ensuring content created is promoted to students and alumni in a way that supports and compliments KC&E’s vision and aims.

The above list of responsibilities may not be exhaustive, and the post holder will be required to undertake such tasks and responsibilities as may reasonably be expected within the scope and grading of the post.

Essential criteria 

1.       Good interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to diversify communication style according to audience.

2.       Excellent time management skills to manage projects effectively, meet deadlines, and handle competing tasks and priorities.

3.       Ability to build strong relationships with a range of different people at different levels to collaborate on shared objectives.

4.       Excellent attention to detail.

5.       Ability to demonstrate initiative and feel confident in taking responsibility for projects.

6.       Ability to work autonomously and without direct supervision to ensure projects are completed to deadline.

Desirable criteria 

1.       Knowledge of Premier Pro, Canva, and Audacity.

2.       Experience with audio and video editing, and animation creation.

3.       Knowledge of the graduate labour market

Interviews will be held using Microsoft Teams and will consist of competency-based questions linked closely to the essential and desirable criteria mentioned here.
