About the role

At RMIT, the Digital Environment Manager resides within the Digital Release Team and is primarily responsible for the management of all non-production environments for RMIT’s Salesforce and Adobe implementations.

Working with the Release and QA functions and System Administrators, you will ensure that environments necessary for the development and testing of deployments and releases are provisioned and refreshed in a timely manner.  In doing so, they will plan, develop and implement solutions to automate and speed up activities within their remit in order to promote the wider DevOps philosophy under which ITS is operating.

Day to day activities under the remit of the Digital Environment Manager include, but are not limited to:

  • The provision of development, test and pre-production platforms from infrastructure up
  • The refresh of these environments (where applicable) with obfuscated test data in line with cybersecurity policies on data management
  • Working with delivery leads and Release Managers to plan and deliver on environment requirements
  • Monitoring environments and leading defect triage and remediation activities.

This position is also responsible for working with the DevOps Lead and the DevOps community of practice to innovate in the area of environment management through process improvement, automation and site reliability practices.
 

About you

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills, particularly in communicating new ideas and leading through change, as well as communicating with and mentoring at all levels in an organisation from developers to senior managers.

Strong practical experience with cloud engineering and containerisation concepts

Strong practical experience with tooling and languages associated with cloud, infrastructure as code and site reliability engineering (e.g. Splunk, Terraform, AWS CloudWatch, New Relic)

Strong practical experience with ops observability practices such as setting Service Level Objectives and Error Budget Policies.

Experience with scripting languages (e.g. YAML, Python, Perl).

Experience with DevSecOps transformations.

Knowledgeable about SAAS/PAAS digital platforms (especially Salesforce and Adobe Experience Manager)

Knowledgeable about CI/CD architecture, practices and toolsets.

Knowledgeable about industry standard DevOps tools (e.g. Maven, BitBucket, AWS Code Pipelines, Splunk)
