Development Officer Humanities

The Humanities development team are looking to recruit a highly effective Development Officer to research and prepare materials for fundraising projects and to manage a fundraising portfolio of priorities. This is an outstanding opportunity for a creative and motivated fundraising professional.

Oxford is the world’s leading university for humanities teaching and research and it was named the best university in the world for a record seventh consecutive year in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2023. The University’s scholarship in languages, literature, history, philosophy, religion and the arts – from the earliest civilisations to the present day – enriches our understanding of humankind, and informs how we engage with historic issues and contemporary concerns.

You will have excellent communication and fundraising skills, in particular a high level of written English, and a proactive, meticulous and analytical approach to your work. The ability to translate and articulate academically complex projects for prospective donors, and to identify and develop relationships in support of the fundraising goals of Humanities is essential. Fluency in written and spoken modern languages will also be helpful.

You will be able to think creatively and communicate effectively with donors using direct fundraising techniques and when reporting to supporters. Managing a portfolio of fundraising priorities, you will be comfortable representing Humanities externally and liaising professionally with colleagues internally across the Humanities Division and the wider University.

You will thrive under pressure, be able to work to tight deadlines, maintain an adaptable approach and attitude, and be adept at assimilating and interpreting large amounts of complex information quickly.

Only applications received before 12.00 noon on Monday 14 November 2022 can be considered. You will be required to upload a supporting evidence form as part of your online application.  Interviews are currently scheduled to take place week commencing Monday 28 November 2022.
