The Department Undulators is looking for
Development Engineer (f/m/d) for the Cryogenic In-Vacuum APPLE-II Undulator
Your Tasks
- You design assembly groups of complex undulator structures and prepare documents for external engineering offices.
- You conduct FEM calculations for mechanical and thermal deformations.
- You develop assembly strategies as well as design assembly fixtures, and test set-ups including the integration of quality control.
- You supply assembly aids and supervise HZB technicians and temporary workers during the assembly.
- You are responsible for procurement processes including writing requests for quotation, awarding contracts, company visits, and company evaluation.
- You prepare tenders and support them technically.
- You write specifications, support the company during production, and monitor the schedules.
- You design work instructions and descriptions of technological processes during the assembly and measurement.
Your Profile
As an engineer with a university master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related fields, you have experience and proven skills in the field of design and manufacturing:
- A master’s degree from a university or technical university
- Extensive knowledge of current standards and guidelines in the context of design, load determination and load verification
- Sound knowledge and experience with modern software for CAD/CAM, FEM, e.g. Creo 4, Intralink, FEM, as well as experience in handling large CAD models
- Knowledge and experience in mechanical and thermal calculations with ANSYS, including in the cryogenic area, mesh generation in structural mechanics, contact modelling
- Knowledge of cryogenics and vacuum technology
- Very good command of English for communication with collaboration partners and companies
- Desirable: knowledge of project planning programs, e.g. Microsoft Project
- Desirable: knowledge of synchrotron light sources
