ResponsibilitiesPeraton is seeking a Deputy Director, Program Management Office (“Deputy Director”) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) Program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.The Deputy Director is an experienced and accomplished technical project manager who is a member of a team supporting the operations and maintenance of a large-scale, worldwide Enterprise IT environment covering application hosting and support, enterprise service, and infrastructure services. The Deputy Director manages a large portfolio of projects and a team of project managers; manages the work, artifacts, and technical decisions for projects in conjunction with Government customers; and supports project managers and operational engineers to implement superior levels of project management, tracking, and control.Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the PMO Director and senior leaders to develop and implement the strategy and objectives for the program’s Project Management Office(PMO) and team; determine optimal processes organizational structure for the team, including workflow and functional assignments that promote maximum efficiency.
- Oversee IT projects for the DoS in coordination with customer managers.
- Oversee the team’s work with technical engineers to identify projects and tasks, analyze risks, and strategize issue remediation.
- Coordinate efforts and implement internal management controls that ensure the best use of technical engineer resources to accomplish program goals.
- Lead resource management and risk management across the enterprise, identifying and preventing resource constraints and analyzing the results of system changes.
- Act as Delivery Manager or Scrum Master on Kanban teams, guiding technical resources through Scrum/Kanban practices.
- Oversee the development of comprehensive, executive-level dashboards that provide essential project information, such as risks, issues, impediments, and projected completion dates and lead discussions of this information with senior customer managers.
- Liaise with program stakeholders, including senior government executives, internal managers, external stakeholders, development teams, security officers, PMO, and HR.
- Work with appropriate technical and management resources to plan and schedule project timelines and milestones.
- Develop best practices, strategies, and tools for project support and manage process improvement activities in non-technical program areas.
- Develop and deliver executive level presentations to senior government executives.
- Manage team: track schedules and time; provide informal and formal performance feedback to team members; mentor team members to help them achieve professional goals and program objectives.
Core Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM ET – 4:30 PM ETLocation: This position is hybrid with remote work and up to two days per week in the office in Sterling, VA or Washington, DC.QualificationsRequired Qualifications
- U.S. citizenship and an active SECRET Government Security Clearance.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a technical Project Manager.
- Experience working in project management for software development, database management, infrastructure, or network environment projects.
- Experience with project methodologies and associated tools (SDLC, Agile, Kanban, and Jira or IBM ELM suite).
- Solid experience using MS Office Suites.
- Experience with knowledge sharing tools, such as SharePoint and Confluence.
- Experience providing operational task support in a highly-demanding environment.
- Ability to apply industry standards and best practices for operational excellence.
- PMP and/or Agile certification.
Desired Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in a role similar to the Deputy Director position on a federal goverment contract.

This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
