The Australian National University Service Portfolio supports the strategic priorities of the University by delivering critical services, advice, and infrastructure platforms, driven by a commitment to excellent customer service.

The People & Culture Division sits within the Services Portfolio and delivers on whole of University strategic priorities relating to planning, talent and capability, culture, compliance, safety, risk, and wellbeing. People & Culture work closely with the Division of Shared Services in the delivery of human resources operations, including informing policy, procedure, and best practice.

Reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO), the Deputy CPO (Safety & Wellbeing) will play an integral role in supporting the University to deliver on strategic priorities through the design and delivery of key safety and wellbeing initiatives and services. This diverse and important portfolio includes Safety, Compliance, Risk & Audit, Community Wellbeing, Injury Prevention, Rehabilitation and Claims Management.

Leading a small team, you will champion contemporary practice across Safety and Wellbeing making incremental improvements to lift the maturity of culture, systems and processes. You will work closely with peer level DCPOs delivering value and collaborating with key stakeholders across the University.

We are looking for an appropriately qualified, experienced, highly collaborative safety leader with a demonstrated track record of leading successful organisation wide initiatives in safety and wellbeing across a large, complex, and multidisciplinary environment at both a strategic and operational level. Exposure to self-insured environments would be beneficial.
