Department Summary
University Health Services (UHS) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. All staff are required to uphold the values of the UHS.
This position works in support of the University Health Services mission and vision and is consistent with UO policy. Some aspects of this position may be completed in collaboration with other University departments.
Position Summary
The Dental Hygienist at University Health Services is a primary care provider for intraoral health, with specialty in periodontal hard and soft tissue for the purpose of dental hygiene diagnosis, treatment planning, and treatment implementation and evaluation. Another major component of this job/position is to provide dental education toward the prevention of oral disease. The Dental Hygienist incorporates preventive models of health that are part of the overall Health Services mission. The services and education provided by the hygienist move the student, faculty & staff from a state of comprised or ill health toward oral health and overall well-being, thereby enabling a student’s academic pursuit while supporting the well-being of faculty and staff.
This is a 12-month, 0.8 FTE (4 days a week) position.
This position requires the successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). In addition, employees must follow Compliance with UHS policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.
Minimum Requirements
• Licensed by the Oregon Board of Dentistry as a Dental Hygienist, or able to obtain licensure by agreed upon start date of employment.

Preferred Qualifications
• Oregon Board of Dentistry Expanded Function Dental Hygiene License.
• Two years’ experience working as a Dental Hygienist.
• Proficient in providing periodontal therapy treatments.
• Two years’ experience in providing local anesthesia administration to ensure comfort to the dental patient.
• Experience working in college health.
