Information Technology.

Reporting
to the Vice President, Academic, the Dean functions as an agile and future-focused
leader to make an impact strategically and collaboratively in a culture of
innovation and professional development. By exercising sound judgement and
decision making, the Dean will be a key member in driving NAIT’s Vision,
Promises and Values.
The
Dean develops strategies to meet the current and future needs of polytechnic
education and applied research by identifying and forecasting current and
emerging needs, ensuring the School of Media & Information Technology is globally
competitive, recognized, and strategically networked.
Along
with leading the School
of Media & Information Technology to success, the Dean also
serves as senior member of the NAIT Academic Leadership Team, which contributes
to the overall leadership of the Institute through participation in the
development of academic and business plans, financial plans, and performance
objectives.
The
Dean ensures the School
of Media & Information Technology is responsive to the needs of
industry, and students through achievement of the following key
accountabilities:
- Providing visionary leadership to the School that
guides and supports program leaders and faculty towards a culture of innovation
to meet industry needs and achieve student success. - Driving and advancing meaningful and effective
relations with industry to effectively align the school with current, and
future industry needs. The Dean will work collaboratively with: - Internal industry solution-focused
support areas to develop and implement the integration of applied research into
academic plans - Local, regional, and provincial
governments to position and enhance the School’s presence and reputation within
those arenas - Other institutes to create and
collaborate on partnership initiatives. - Advocating for funding to establish and maintain state-of-the-art facilities
for applied learning and research.

for applied learning and research.- Developing and executing the strategic enrolment
management plan, with focus on strategic and sustainable growth through
introduction of new or renewed programming. - Championing institute initiatives that link academic
learning with practical skills development, facilitating seamless transitions
to professional environments. - Strategically developing and managing the School’s
overall budget and providing strategic oversight of school administrative
functions. - Providing mentorship and leadership guidance to others
as part of successional planning.
Along with
excellent communication skills, sound knowledge of academic and administrative leadership
functions in a post-secondary environment; and a strong desire to develop
others, success in this role is achieved through consistent and well-developed
application of the following core competencies:

Qualifications:
- Graduate degree, doctorate degree an asset
- Recent experience in a senior leadership role within a
complex organization leading a large, high-functioning team. - Leadership experience within an academic institution
as well as significant faculty experience within a related discipline preferred. - Equivalent sum of relevant education and experience considered.
Remuneration: $
140,327.20 – $ 185,914.56 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
