The Dean is responsible for ensuring all academic objectives for their academic department, as established by the University, are met. Ensures that Faculty Mentors are performing to the University’s standards of quality and integrity. Develops programs for the departments by performing the below established duties. The Dean must be an effective advocate for their Schools, both within the University and externally. The Dean will have primary accountability for their schools’ management of resources: including fiscal and human. The Dean is responsible for collegiate planning and growth, including alignment of plans for academics, research and other activities in their school.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES :
The Dean is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the departments.
The Dean’s responsibilities include: hiring highly effective chairs and Core and Adjunct Faculty Mentors; conducting performance evaluations on staff; retaining key staff; assuring faculty and staff accountability for high-level performance in areas appropriate to their position; interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing the work of staff; rewarding and disciplining employees; and resolving and addressing faculty, staff, and learner complaints.
The Dean will also supervise Faculty Mentors in accordance with the University’s policies and procedures. The Dean may also be required to manage one or more academic staff.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Doctorate in a field or discipline relevant to the specific school and more than 5 years related experience and/or training. The Dean must be a subject matter expert in the field covered by the school e.g., psychology, business law, and related fields. Flexibility to handle a diversity of details to make informed and responsive decisions on matters that impact the academic programs of the department. Ability to establish both short and long-term academic objectives and operations for the department. Familiarity with personal computer business applications is required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governing body regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from colleagues, learners, accrediting and licensing agencies, and the public. Effectiveness in human relations and dealing with the human aspects of the organization.
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), familiarity with CANVAS or a similar learning management system, and Colleague or a similar student information system. Able to use Microsoft Teams and Zoom, has broadband Internet connectivity supporting streaming audio and videoconferencing meetings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
RESEARCH SKILLS:
Familiarity with the following research methodologies:
Qualitative: Action Research, Evaluative (Programmatic/Policy), Case Study, Grounded Study, Content Analysis, Historical/Narrative, Delphi Method, Holistic Study, Developmental (Trend/Pattern), Phenomenology, Ethnography, Pure Descriptive, and Generic Designs.
Quantitative: Causal-Comparative; Correlational, Linear and Nonlinear Modelling, and Quasi-Experimental Design. Familiarity with 1-cycle and 2-cycle coding, CAQDAS, and grounded theory coding methods is desirable.
Mixed Methods: Explanatory Sequential, Exploratory Sequential, and Parallel/Convergent Design.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee must regularly talk and actively listen. The employee is occasionally required to stand and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include computer technology and written materials which require close vision and color vision. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
