An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the ICT Department’s Enterprise Systems & Data Services team as a database administrator. The team is responsible for data integration and data warehousing development, database administration, identity management and general software development within the University. The team also contributes to the institution’s digital strategy and delivers on CI/CD (continuous integration, continuous delivery, and continuous deployment), test automation, and master data management.

We are looking for a highly motivated team player with a positive and enthusiastic attitude. The successful candidate will be tasked with developing, securing and maintaining the predominantly, Microsoft SQL Server database infrastructure and databases.

The post holder will contribute to the design of data structures and write and maintain documentation describing the purpose, structure, mechanisms and security of the databases and their underlying infrastructure.

The post holder will also be required to provide excellent levels of customer service; triaging and adding diagnostic value to support calls assigned to the team whilst monitoring progress against support requests and providing timely and effective customer feedback.

The University has an ‘Agile’ working policy so, whilst the post holder will be required to attend campus for defined activities, there will also be opportunities available for them to flex both their working days and the location where that work is undertaken with the agreement of their line manager.

The post holders will seek to actively participate in meetings, stand-ups and training sessions and will be required to gain an understanding of other disciplines within the team: Data integration, Identity Management and Management Information/Business Intelligence
